I remember the 1968 strike. My dad was IBEW in Illinois and he was out a long time. I remember him working 3 jobs and also walking the picket line. I started as a tech in Illinois and we walked a couple of times for a few days but no one has done what they did in 1968. That was the start of the good pay the company started to give. It had great benefits then but not alot of money.
The people after that really needs to thank those people who stayed out so long. I'm surprised the union never mentions this as well. I have been management now but I started out union and always knew the reasons we made so much was because of those who stayed out for so long in 1968. Those were very tough times for us back then.
I hope somebody finally has the guts to do something about this BS and take a stand. And by stand I mean a strike that hurts them, and not just a mini strike to appease the membership.
4008 in Michigan wAlked at noon and plan to picket as long as it takes.
