I told my boss a few months ago to put me on next RIF. Well I got it On 5/31. I get 35 weeks of pay. Plus vacation + STI. So can’t complain. IT EUS Telecom for17 + Year’s. This as a big one 20 to 30% as far as I can tell. Most of us over 50. Verizon Wireless use to be a great place to work. Time to move on.
Any layoffs in Piscataway/Basking Ridge
Don't forget to submit any suspected age discrimination scenarios to the EEOC.
Reading this today was enlightening: http://hr.cch.com/ELD/WalkerVerizon082517.pdf

The employee won this case (good for her!)
-
Verzion appears to have whined a bit about paying a very small interest adjustment (seriously? 3% adjustment to offset the fact that she had to wait two yrs to receive the lost salary?
-
The two mgrs who met via phone and targeted the 56-yr-old employee are both still with Verizon.
When stalled at a juncture, the positive and worth awareness consider it a layover, and find no matching attributes, and hence no comfort. Only option is to shorten the delay and choose direction that satisfies capabilities.
The sheer amount of tickets in the market and national queues are not going to go down either. Those left behind will be tasked to do more than they ever bargained for. One incident and one task, every 10 minutes my a--. Those in the field will be going the HQ route and getting AT LEAST five incidents and one task auto assigned every few minutes. No way you can support all that with a lean staff, "cream of the crop" or not. My director flat out said, "better you leave now because what's left won't be pretty". Eventually they'll all be handed over to IBM and they'll lose their severance entirely.
With 15+ years and let go today all i can say is 80% of those left behind are the cream of the crop. They will have to do more with less. I don't envy them the stress is of getting the work done is tough let alone the constant layoffs. I feel like i had a weight lifted off my shoulders. My manager and upper management (NE EUS) were top notch its not personal they have a job to do. I was lucky for the last decade and a half....now time to do something new.
For awhile now I have questioned the decisions this company made, the huge Vodaphone payoff, Yahoo purchase, I think the Board of Directors must have huge egos. If you haven’t bailed, you might want to think about it, the top people seem to have no direction in my opinion . If they were smart they would focus on their network and all those technologies that will be integrated into it.69
Boy, the "naysayers" are very quiet today...I guess this wasn't just a "rumor"
I'm gone too. Has to be 15% to 20% of desktop team
Lay Off is for real.
I believe if you want rifd just tell your mgr the next time it comes pick you first.
Some impact in itnuc too on the uc side.
So is it 'just' EUS and IT Help desk?
Sorry felt bad saying 'just' in this situation. People keep saying IT, but I havnt heard of any devs being let go.
How to you go about requesting to be on the next RIF list? I am interested in volunteering.
This is another massive wave of IT being replaced by VDSI, just like November, and the November before that. Quality domestic workers being wiped out and replaced by poorly trained offshore agents to raise the stock by a dollar. Temple Terrace has/had a lot of great technicians that have watched their own numbers shrink drastically over the years and are constantly told they have nothing to worry about.
PACM employee - got cut this morning. Full severance. I have been with the company over 20 years. I asked to be put on the list, and my wish was thankfully granted.
Layoff rumor is true for IT at least. I have been here 21 years and got Rifd this morning, IT Temple Terrace, FL full severance although I don't have all the paper work yet. I am not sure of the total # of people yet … been kind of busy and shocked to poll others on my team.
This is 100% happening. IT/EUS manager here, was riffed this morning. It's big, something like 30% of IT.
RIF'd this morning, as well. IT EUS based in the SEM. A few others on my team got the ax, as well. Full severance, so I can say (when it's all said and done) that I was one of the lucky ones.
It's real this time. IT cuts , i know people troll, but I was affected this time, IT/EUS in Northeast, manager was let go as well.
I was cut this morning as well, IT.
"is not rif" IS a troll - ignore it
I know someone from EUS that was rif'd this morning.
RIFd also this morning. MIM
@vhy- Not a RIF? I don't know what you call it when you had a job when you walked in and you don't an hour later.
@ Doubting Thomas - Calling who? Do you know anyone in EUS or the IT Service Desk?
This is real..
I still haven't been able to verify this anywhere except anonymous posts. I have been calling up and down east coast and no one knows of anyone affected, just these posts.
Rifd this morning, IT Temple Terrace, FL
Is not rif.
I am not trying to make light of people loosing their jobs, but I was laid off in November and it was a blessing. It gave me time to get my life in order to sell the house and buy my retirement home. Now that all of the work stress had gone and the unknown is known my blood has has gone back down to normal where I do not need medication. People, try to make a positive out of a negative.
@TrG5CpY-zkw - I couldn't have said it any better myself!
RIF'd in NC just now. Full severance.
Same here just got my package upon arrival this morning.
Character Assassin if it doesn't happen to you it isn't true. Wake up and stop drinking the kool-aid. I was reached out to from a couple of people who said they got laid off. I can't say how many but for these people it isn't BS and is credible. Try to show some compassion please.
Any IT layoffs in Dublin Ohio?
New England area
What kind of Layoff package did you all get.
Where are you located?
RIFd also this morning. IT
It’s real I just got laid off too. It/eus. Happiest day of my life!
Sorry, calling BS on this. Too early and not enough detail to be credible.
