Let’s keep this thread top posted. It’s much more important than whether or not IHX is SALARY or NOT (26 posts). IHX is NOT going anywhere anytime soon- as in a few years, can you say the same for SSRs?

Keep this post first IN THEIR FACE- question are there any updates about SSRs?

OK 1zre- if the truth is the ssr position is not important, than why have it at all? I have been told we are not needed anymore they just cannot figure out how to delegate the back office duties. That is why they are dragging a-- on this surplus/ force adjustment- whatever it is. Because it is so important & only very few old school managers have a clue what to do with MICA. That’s the truth.

Hmm......where exactly was the union in 2013 when the Finance Reps (OSRs) were surplussed. Word from the union itself is they were not even notified ahead of the employees and could not even respond. If I were you I would not put any amount of faith in anything a union anybody tells you.

Not sure any of you were around in 2008-2009 when they had the same rumor going around that SSR would be eliminated. A lot of them left or switched to rsc for fear that they might be let go.

Att ended up just hoping they would quit and switch and a bunch did

Same thing happen in 2013 except his time there was so many that a workforce adjustment was done instead.

For a lot of stores you could probably get away without an ssr, but sm3 might find it difficult unless you have a dedicated person to handle traffic and backend.

Let’s be honest here, ssr can be extremely useful if utilized correctly. Unforunutly AT&T won’t use them to their full potential, using them as solutions to problems and actually support sales would be useful.

But yea...this rumor for ssr has been going for over 2 years...it seems on this site, next month is always the date for layoff. I personally don’t even dare anymore. If it happens it happens...I’m just trying to cake in overtime and make as much money as possible before it happens..:if it even does..

I spoke with my union president who say that the union has a plan to fight the company and bring it to there knees if thay try and lay off ssrs. She told me not to worry.

The company has actually been very compassionate with not outright laying off SSRs and instead letting the numbers naturally decline.

It is so bizarre- its like when the switchboard operators were no longer needed due to automation, but Bell was like oh well lets just wait until they all quit or retire because they are UNION after all, but we are obviously not back-filling their positions. Do you think that was a thing?

Orange and Black contracts have clauses on them stating that if a position is eliminated, a other job within the company will be offered to the affected parties. The crux of this is that they just have to offer you a position SOMEWHERE, there is no obligation to offer you a position in your market. It could be clear across the country if that is what they wish.

Now would they actually do that to people? Highly unlikely. But the clause leaves it open for such a scenario to occur.

All that being said, there is no more substance to any rumor now than there was a month ago, the month before that, and the month before that, etc.

Its always the same scare tactic "fear for your lives on the 15th of every month" that it has been for the last 3 years on a monthly basis.

The only true information that we know is that SSRs are indeed not being back filled. If an SSR quits, gets fired, retires etc, said SSR's position will not be reposted for a new hire.

Anything else floating out there right now is strictly "chicken little sky is falling" hearsay

Why just orange & black? Are we being racist here? What about purple and green?

Will likely all be offered rsc positions in orange and black contract areas. Look for more info mid-june.

You are a a-- hole. There are a couple of thousand people who DO CARE and these people are in need of real information.

The most current rumor on the street is there is a hiring freeze for RSC & IHX so they can do a head count and create new requisitions. There will be a back-end ASM who will also handle all the other daily customer related crap that occurs in a store.

SSRs are extinct, probably 6/15-6/22 notify date. You can apply for the ASM position if you have done all their leadership courses they have been emailing you will need to apply for management- Go Figure. Or you will be able to apply to IHX or I’m sure we will see about 1000 part-time RSC positions open up. Or last but not least you can take VSP and leave.

You are welcome & a-- hole don’t even reply if you have nothing to contribute. You are the reason everyone says this site is has become worthless.
