Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

IHX

Lots of whispering about moving IHEs to 1B from 1A. That would mean a promotion and salary bump for them. These guys doing RSC work for store manager pay? WTF? Is there any truth to this?

Ive seen the sales numbers of IHX teams. And they are a lot more promising than the sales numbers of a rep at a store! Who wants to set for an hour in a store when they can do it from home!

@tmkeyGu-ggl you are a bitter person, sounds like you’ve been passed over on a few promotions. IHE’s are salary and my current market is 168% to attainment for the month of November. If you are so unhappy you should find another job, sheesh!

Lol!!! All this back and forth over IHX. I am an IHX representative. We are on salary, we do not clock in or out. On our paycheck it says rate of pay Salary of $40,000. We can work as many hours a week we want, for free granted as we do not get overtime. If we miss a day of work we still get paid for it. If we’re late to work we still get paid for it. If we stay late we do not get paid extra for it. Our vacation is listed in days not hours like an hourly employee is.

The only way to tell is go to the management job portal in HR OneStop and click on a posting. If you’re an employee, it should tell you the pay range, level, and whether exempt or non-exempt.

Go check if you have doubts.

Keep in mind, companies can say a position is non-exempt, but say overtime is forbidden. So you either make your quota in 40 hours or you risk your job.

If you aren’t making quota, you have 3 options to handle that month:

1.) Miss quota, get written up when your manager sees your gross adds

2.) Work unauthorized overtime and get written up when your manager sees your time card

3.) Work unpaid overtime and hope your manager stops digging when he sees you made quota

When ihx gains the customer it proves the other can be surplussed. There can be only one pitcher on the mound in this company.

And how is an IHX seller not an individual contributor? Why are they exempt? They have no direct reports. Highly illegal!!!!

Post ID: @9icq+TmkeyGu

Pay grade and exempt/non-exempt are independent of one another. You can be a 2nd level, but non-exempt if you are an individual contributor.

Likewise, you can be 1A but exempt.

The company needs to be held accountable for illegally calling them flsa exempt when they are actually frontline sellers. They should be unionized and get overtime.

Let me set this straight for people in this thread. I am a current employee. The creation of the title was a strategic move by AT&T, and everyone is falling for it:

1.) IHX is a 1A, not a 1B. This is a SALARIED position, because it is on the MANAGEMENT wage scale.

2.) This was intentional, give someone a flat salary and a quota. They will work as many hours as necessary to meet quota and keep their job. Think CAR SALESMEN working 60-70 hours a week to make quota if the work in an area that's anything other than absolute gravy.

  1. Successfully created a rift among employees, "divide and conquer", specifically between union (RSC) and MANAGEMENT (IHX) titles.

Congrats, you fell for it.

"By the way, anyone out there that thinks IHX is here to take your job, your completely wrong" ..... i guess that is what they told you , but they might have another agenda you are not aware of. T operates on a "need to know" basis and will keep information from leaking to other levels of the organization through the use of sworn statements. keep drinking the kool aid, my friend.

By the way, anyone out there that thinks IHX is here to take your job, your completely wrong. Our main goal is to gain a competitors wireless customer. Example; a Verizon customer that orders directv through customer service never walks into an At&t store in thier lifetime. We are there to earn thier wireless business and help bundle them with thier directv, earning a new customer that would have never happened otherwise. Anyone that thinks IHX is taking your job is crazy. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon would be the ones taking someone’s jobs. Retail stores are not seeing customers coming in to buy anything, they have basically become customer service centers. We are an opportunity for a sale that would help keep all of us in a job. Why are people so negative about everything. We are all out here trying to feed our family’s and live a happy life.

They need top performers in the Ihx role to be successful. It’s not easy to switch a 20 year Verizon customer that had no idea of doing it to begin with. Its easy to do when they walk into the At&t store already with the mindset to do it. To keep the best sales people you have to pay the best. That is not happening so they are losing some strong sales people to other roles in the company. That is the purpose of moving from a 1a to 1b position.

What would be gaines by moving from 1A to 1B since we have established they aren’t paid overtime as is? I am just curious if anyone has a guess.

IHX is salary but that just goes to show how Randy screws them! They are sellers who deserve overtime if they work overtime. But there is no union to proteck them so they are being shafted for overtime pay. It is probably illegal too!

Salary or hourly, IHx reps are stealing food from union families by undercutting us and being scabs. Shame on all of them!!!!!! You deserve what is bound to come when you are all laid off with no union protection. I can’t wait!!!!

This is comical people! Please understand the In home experts are most definitely salaried employees! IHX SSLs are 1a hourlry; the only hourly position in the channel. All this hate for fellow people who are getting ransacked by the same company is ludicrous and exactly the foundation of the real issue at hand.

If you feel as if you are getting continuously screwed by ATT then just leave. There are definitely jobs out there or you could use the knowledge you have gained with the company and start your own business. As the transformation steamrolls along into the digital frontier there will be less jobs without a doubt. Don’t take this out on your fellow mates!!!! If you do not have a backup plan your are strolling up chit creek at an alarming rate! Please realize that you can change your circumstances and be ok. Do not become a slave to the money/lifestyle that the BS will afford you.

1A doesn’t automatically mean hourly. 1A is a position level. Non-supervisory manager position. I am an IHE and I am exempt. Go into management career path and look up an open Integrated Solutions Consultant. Under FLSA status is shows “exempt”.

“There’s no such thing as OT in IHX. They’re exempt.“

Not true...ASMs get overtime, that’s 1A

As for all the people touting the union . T doesn’t care about non-union versus union. Think bigger picture. IHX is a desperate move to get gross ads and it’s working. If someone is telling you it’s not, they are wrong. Right now they already account for 20% of voice gas for very little investment.

The problem for T is IHX will only work for a few years as cordcutters increase and the IHX like retail will be disposable.

Union people stop hating on IHX. The enemy it AT&T. Union right now unfortunately doesn’t have the most influence due to the political environment and other factors. As an example what happened to the pension?

Any T employee hired before 2012 has one but what what about after?

I do not work for T anymore and have left. I suggest the same of anyone reading this post. Making a union vs non-union things plays right into Att hands.

AT&T is determined to make this position work to break the back of the union but so far they keep failing. It is a flop but the company will keep singing there praises.

The RSM move is to screw over the IHX employee.

They are paying more on average in certain areas because of OT. Who ever said they are not hitting their goal is wrong.

It’s a low cost model where one person generates profitable gas. Ts goal is to continue screwing over its employees and once you make them 1Bs, you raise th goals significantly ensuring improved profitability but also probably increasing most their hours to over 50 a week.

IHX is so epicly underperforming against their goals that executive leadership is very concerned with the project and is holding John Donovan responsible for its turnaround.
