"No one said retail is dead. Learn to read. "

And what is the last part of the title of this thread?

A brick and mortar store has to SELL a lot of phones and accessories just to pay the rent, let alone all the other expenses involved in running a store that serves a small area. With gas prices on the rise again just adds another reason to shop from home and wait a day or two to receive the purchase. Five years from now or less Vz retail stores will be gone.

No one said retail is dead. Learn to read. But if you can't see the trend upper left to lower right then you're kidding yourself. Next getting crushed by e-commerce , and on the brink PetSmart with 1600 stores. I would be surprised if V has over 1000 corporate stores in 60 months

Retail will never die, and you're a fool for thinking otherwise. The latest generation lives on instant gratification. Just look at Amazon's lifeboat-grabbing move at physical locations.

Whether or not Verizon wants to maintain a physical presence is another question. Look for more indirect, certainly, but not an exit from brick and mortar entirely.

Retail is not dead but on a BIG downtrend every year will be worse until 50% of retail is gone. It all starts with low / no interest for years. Never has an experiment with no / negative interest rates ever been done before in history. Kills savers while companies / individuals binge on free money. The illusion is make the fake stock market / home prices go up on stock buybacks, and free - inflated money. Step 2 spin that as economy is great using the media shills! Fake the job numbers, but don't count the 10 mil younger people out of work. Does 3.9% unemployment with 100 million out of work or not looking sound like 3.9%? Use your brain. You can thank to good ole privately owned Fed for this. Wealth transfer in progress like 2008. Now they are raising rates? Expect a huge shock in the next 3 to 30 months. S&P will chug to 3500 / 4K then collapse to 1000. Currently the world is swimming in massive debt. Fiat back by nothing. In the US credit card, mortgage, student loan, automobile debt is highest ever while default rates are skyrocketing. Your not going to hear any of that on mainstream media. Anyway for VZ that means the consumer is tapped out. VZ needs to cut cost what better way to do that then cut retail and the thousands supporting retail and move to indirect / web model. The people who position themselves for what is coming are going to make be fine. 98% will get crushed..same as it ever was

Retail is not dead. Many malls around the country are being replaced by "lifestyle centers," and sometimes geographic areas become depressed.

Atlantic City is just one of those areas. It's a dump. Apple is smart to close their store there.

It seems, the lone Negative Nellie, that poor sap who was not invited by anyone to go anywhere this weekend, is occupying his or her time here. Lighten up Francis. Go enjoy life!
