Lack of Diversity in C&E

Why is there a lack of diversity in C&E? I do not see a lot of minorities in management positions and I do not see any Asian people as Operation Managers . Only one Asian in management and he's a VP . Why is it like this? It's funny because the company won awards for being diverse but I guess that's only in sales or customer service organizations

Does T have to abide by quota legislation in India ? Or are they staffing what they deem "most qualified" over there ? maybe it's another reason more jobs are off shored ... just wondering

To the person accusing others of "white privilege", for decades jobs have been stolen from more qualified whites and given to blacks and other minorities. This is a fact.

i see a lot of white privilege in the responses here. WOW. its amazing how you assume minorities aren't hired because they are incompetent, or don't work hard enough while every white person MUST be knowledgeable and hard working to get where they are. you guys really don't get it.....

Construction & Engineering is probably the MOST good ole boy of the good ole boy networks. Been there, worked that. Not bad but you have to play politics to get what you need. One manager always gets all the resources. He’s the wannabe second-level.

Probably because he’s on his third divorce and $90k just ain’t the same $90k it used to be after the alimony gets taken out.

ATT is the “good ole boy network”. Unions are also guilty. If you work for any other telecommunication company you definitely feel and see the difference.

Give me competency over diversity.

Try competing from a wheelchair... AT&T has no "diversity". I kept up with my peers, but couldn't surpass them... All with zero accommodations. And I was shown the door because I had ethics. I feel like it was a blessing. I work for another large corporation that values ALL of it's employees. And no one has to con anyone or lie, cheat and steal to work here. People actually want our products! (Nothing to do with communications industry at all) And here... Everyone genuinely smiles, wants to have everyone's input... Huuuuuuge change from the bloated behemoth that has become AT&T! Just a regular guy in a wheelchair who asked for nothing but gave everything... Including time with my wife and four children. Do yourself a favor and find another company... Your life and self esteem will appreciate it.

If you have been really paying attention over the last 3 years there has been an influx of minorities promoted into leadership roles.

Forced diversity isn't diversity.

Instead of worrying about a made up term to make you feel better, try working harder?

The all meaning, all everything word " Diversity". Iam so sick of hearing that word and seeing that word but if I say what I think ...well at the very least I would find myself in some sort of diversity group think re-education class.

Are they qualified? Or are you suggesting someone or a specific group be promoted to meet a quota?
