AT&T's FINAL Offer

What next? AT&T is basically daring Leg T employees to turn on their union with this latest "News Now" email, force-feeding us a stale contract. Union is so inept at strategics and leveraging it has become painfully obvious that this won't end in so much as a good ole reach around.

WHAT NEXT?

"Final offers" are part of every negotiation come contract year. It's when, in states with balls, the union employees walk out and start ripping jumpers out of pedestals, right before going on strike for, oh, about 3 or 4 months.

The problem with Legacy T is that there aren't enough of them in any one local to even be a blip on the radar. My contract stated a watermark, or minimum amount of employees in the covered titles, DISTRICT WIDE. 800 headcount across two titles, for the entire state of California and Nevada. Not gonna make a difference if we walk out. Core has to walk out.

First, there are "final" offers for both Midwest and Leg T.

My observation is, so long as the various regions have contracts with different expiration dates, the union won't have the bargaining power that they would have if the various contracts all had the same expiration date.

I see one big roadblock, and that is legacy telephone. The union wants to keep jobs in a service that has a declining customer base. AT&T would rather completely shut it down because there is probably not enough customers to justify the fixed costs of keeping landline telephony going.
