Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

May 17th False Prophet

Well... false alarm but I rather that than being unemployed. HOWEVER, that does not mean that nothing can happen. Stores can still be closed. People WERE laid off. If you ignore the those who were laid off and say it was nothing, you're a dumb dumb. There is not much life left in retail at Verizon. Regarding ss reps, I think those they will just fire as they don't hit their numbers. Managers are laid off to be let go with "dignity" I'm guessing.

Sounds a little harsh but it makes business sense. I left the retail GM spot last year as they did away with store levels in my area and it seemed like running a smaller store paid more and was less stress than the A level store I was running. Looking back and seeing what is going on now I’m glad I made the move. Verizon is looking at efficiencies on the retail front. They hired someone to basically do for us what he did for Microsoft I believe. You have to consider the cost of what it takes to run a location and have it be profitable in the retail struggling climate. The last months of me being a GM it was straight to the point. Where do the reps stand on scorecard, are performance ratings accurate, and who is on any type of disciplinary action? I hate to seem heartless and I know many loss their job and I feel for them but the writing has been on the wall for sometime.
