Total BS. Overuse of shift work just robs Peter to pay Paul. Any competent manager knows this. Less people in the beginning of the day so there are more later. It never works out. Any time it is tried there is more to be made due to differentials. They are always better off paying overtime when there is work to be done than maintaining people on shift at a premium whether work is needed or not. I wish it where true. The shifts always pay off and the differential add to the K plan and pension unlike overtime.
Fake news. I worked 22 OT hours this week and and minimally 10 or 12 weekly the past few months. I am nowhere near the heaviest of hitters in OT hours. We have had a bunch of fiber to cell sites go down as of late as well as some storm activity. I guess so much for wireless being unwired. LOL. Maybe when there is less work we won't work as much but we never seem to have a lull of a week here and there.
OP, you little troll you. In my experience, it goes by order of call so, if you're slated to work next, you can't just be skipped over by virtue of your having already put in 9 hours so far that week, as a means of getting to someone who still has not worked 9.
Also, you're making a blanket statement, and painting with too wide a brush. How do you know all areas are in lockstep with what's occurring in your corner of the world?
This is true for construction and line 8-9 hr a week per man ,no weekends
