There are no sales opportunities troll... The only reason IHX gets sales is their remarkable ability to give away things that other channels are denied. And you know it's true. So get off your high horse Mr manager and see what your corporate peers are doing to this company. It's not RSC's who are hating on IHX... It's management affording opportunities to the select few while sacrificing the masses. That doesn't feed my family. It takes from my family... And that pisses me off. That may seem like opportunity to you, but not to me. That's the kind of thing that makes one hate the elite... Or those who think they are doing us a favor by stealing our sales opportunities. So go to hell buddy.

First, I don't care what channel you work in -- if you're so angry at the world that you think that typing in blanked out curse words into a layoff website makes you more credible, or that anyone does anything but laugh at you, you are sorely mistaken. Try not being enraged at your keyboard, not "cursing," and instead use decent grammar. People will take you more seriously. Sure, go ahead and curse at me in your response. I don't care. I won't respond.

Secondly, I don't see the point in Retail being angry with IHX employees or the other way around. You're wasting energy that could be better used to figure out how to make some more sales of your own. Also, AT&T is the one that created this channel and has seemingly everyone competing against each other for the same few precious customers. Stinks for us but pretty smart on AT&T's part. I don't know who came up with the idea of IHX, and who signed off on it, but I'm willing to bet none of us has any clue or control over that or what happens.

Thirdly, I am a retail manager. I'm neither pro- nor anti-union. What I am for is my employees getting the best benefits and pay they can, because obviously they'll be more likely to stay here doing a good job for me, right? I've watched as IHX literally hired away our best sellers from every store, mine included. In some cases they've hired away the best ASMs and the best ARSMs as well. So our best sellers are gone, which would be painful even without IHX. From what I've seen in my state, and heard from elsewhere, IHX is doing quite well. There's a reason they're constantly asking you for store inventory, folks, as many of you have complained about. Am I frustrated when IHX asks for inventory, because I know its for new sales that I'm not getting? Sure. But I have to remind myself that it's not our local IHX person's fault that this new channel came along, they chose to do something different with their career, and are excelling. They're not scabs, losers, lazy or any other name you've called them. Most of them work long, hard days, with little downtime. Yes, it's frustrating that I hear about them getting endless sales while our retail traffic continues to die and the sellers have nothing to do for half the day.

Finally, in most cases, IHX is getting new business. These are people that have or are getting DTV, but don't have AT&T Wireless. So, by and large, these are not OUR customers in retail. They're obviously not coming into the store, and we in retail have no idea where these people are, because our leadership wouldn't give us the information. So we are increasing market share which we can hope will eventually lead to some of these customers coming into the store. Yes, I know IHX occasionally adds lines to existing accounts, but this is rare -- under 15% I'm sure, as someone else suggested.

I have no clue what will become of IHX in 4-5 years, nor do I have a clue what will happen to retail in that time frame. The reality is (someone mentioned Amazon) that att.com sales are increasing constantly. If any of us, in any channel, thinks are jobs are safe or guaranteed, then that is just silly thinking. Everyone is replaceable. I recommend treating peers and coworkers decently and maybe someone will give you a job someday when you're in need. It's probably a better shot than being remembered as a lunatic cursing on a layoff site.

Sure, curse me, call me a troll, call me whatever, but it's true and you know it. PS, how much time do YOU waste at work reading this website and cursing at it? Probably more time than IHX has in between their apparently super-successful dispatches. :)

To the person that saw the rep sitting for 30min... do all of your reps stay productive all day? I don’t think so. There’s always people at the stores standing or even sitting doing nothing! Does that make them a piece of trash? I don’t thinks so.. they’re smart. Getting pay for doing nothing is great!

“IHX = Retail Account Executive, ASM, SSR, ARSM. Different roles, same outcome... AT&T will shut it down and lay you off.“

I couldn’t agree more. As I said earlier IHX is profitable for now. But instead fighting with each other is Retail and IHX folks, you should focus your attention on ATT. If you are not happy I would leave now.

If you are happy and you are in either channel I would consider seeing your options because there will be prime disruption in the next 4-5 years.

"Hey buddy. I understand your frustrations. They stole sales from retail all the time. And in the beginning they were SUPPOSED to work with non AT&T customers... But now they accompany ALL DTV installations regardless of whether they have competing phone service or not. And if that isn't T trying to circumvent Retail, I don't know what is!". Glorified union busting trash!

"IHX will eventually be installers. They will show up with set top boxes connected via 5G." That is until AT&T figures out how to get the US Postal Service to install them! They're already making UPS deliveries! Then it's good-bye In Home Experts!

You have 10 appointments a day? I say b---s---. Rural areas = anywhere from ten to fifty miles distance between customers. Unless you can drive at the speed of sound or you spend five minutes with each of your ten customers before they run your happy a-- off, you don't have time to sell sh--. But maybe you could if you slam your customers...

As far as IHX being dispatched from telesales and web sales only is bs. I know of at least one instance a customer ordered Directv at a store and did not sign up for wireless due to the crappy coverage where he lives. When called to see how the install went he informed that a salesman accompanied the installer trying to sell him service for an area where it simply won’t work.

First off, apparently the IHX people never read BBB complaints and/or other consumer complaint sites. You go in and offer these fantastic deals that are not available in Retail Stores and then T fudges on the deals. He'll... If I could freaking give away phones all day long, I could definitely top ANY IHX's sales quotas!!! And without having to purchase a car, fuel, maintenance, insurance, safes, etc. Plus without all the liability of being on the road with tens of thousands of dollars in inventory!!! So don't give me your crap about saving money... In rural areas there will never be more than a few appointments a day. (T hasn't got the "beam me up Scotty" portal ready yet!)

The problem is that the retail folks are complaining IHX are scabs and IHX folks are defending themselves saying they are needed for the company - both are wrong. And instead of being so angry at each other focus your energy on leaving AT&T. There are so many amazing jobs out there if you hate your job leave and be happy.

  1. First statement IHX is a failure and be quotas are easy - False

IHX is not a failure because it’s a low cost model. Think about it you have no store overhead and the domains gets gross ads. IHX is currently more profitable than retail, most channels are such B2B, etc. Beter margins. As for the quota it’s not as easy as you would think getting gas door to door, in fact as the channel is maturing the quotas are starting to normalize.

  1. IHX is success and here to stay - true and false.

While IHX is very successful and it bringing in a large amount of GAs it’s a great plan with a short term benefit. As most of you aware cord cutter are increasingly impacting Ts bottom lines and many DTV customers are part of that base. In addition over the next 3 years DTV satellites will no longer be needed to activate service as DTV now takes over. Within 5 years IHX is be nearly completely gone. If you are in IHX, you will see growth for another year, I would suggest moving up as quickly as possible and then leave the channel or the company within two years.

  1. IHX is taking away gas from retail - mostly false.

The point of IHX is to convert existing DTV customers to At&t. Now some IHX agents are activating lines for their existings customer and through word of mouth. This is impacting retail but less than 15%, at the most.

  1. IHX is taking away good retail union jobs- Falae. This is just asenine. First off IHX is a temporary channel for AT&T to get some gross ads as it’s desperate to close the gap it aha faced of the last few quarters where it is loosing more voice customers than they sign. IHX will go away in a few years but it’s a profitable temporary fix. In addition the sales cycle is a little more complicated and in order to attract more talent, you have to make it non-union. That way you may get ASMs/RSMs who are burnt out of retail but can still sell. Retail will always be around in one form or another.

First of all, IHX is NOT dispatched to retail orders. If a customer ordered from a store, IHX doesn’t touch it. The only orders IHX handles are from telesales, national retail and door to door. Guess what you idiots? WE HAVE HAD DOOR TO DOOR FOLKS STEALING YOUR SALES FOR YEARS so calm down. IHX is here to stay. It’s a tough job.

The reason we are angry is because they should be union employees and instead are being used by the company to union bust and reduce the workload of retail. That makes them scabs and scabs are scum. They can go to hell for all I care.

There is a company wide hiring freeze. Not sure if you knew this or not but we are in the process of acquiring a monsterous company. 1Q results were a bit light in terms of Wall St. expectations. And honestly, without IHX, would have been worse. Headcount budgets change, spending tightens and hiring freezes in times like these. It’s not uncommon and NOT a sign that IHX is a failure. It’s very clearly the opposite.

This has clearly just become a high-school gossip page where bitter workers come to complain and thrive off rumors and negative stories. Why do you work here if you hate it so much?

If you think IHX is lazy or has light targets, hop on over and let’s see what you think. There’s this assumption/attitude of the channel created by sour retail employees and people who couldn’t cut it. Let’s grow up and work together and stop praising and wishing for the failure of others.

From these posts I gather A.) Some people commenting with anger. Why, should we all just be upset at every channel of our organization.

B.) I am confident people bashing employees of IHX are not the people who know if it is successful or not.

Putting down people who work for the same company is obviously not good.

From what I have seen our organization is doing something that no other company is doing. Putting people to help, support , and help save sales. Then it makes sense to get cell phones with the same company .

Lastly I have seen several segments of our organization and it is common to think everyone else or their group does not work hard. Farthest from the truth . IHX is a new channel and the people who work in it work all the time.

I hate how those IHX trash come in to the store acting like they are some big time hot shot then need us to transfer phones to them like us SSRs are their slaves. They are the laziest employees riding around in their company cars all day doing nothing. It is funny how bad IHX is failing. I wonder why when they are all incompetent losers who drive around doing nothing all day. Hope you all get laid off and go homeless!!!

From DirecTV to change , evolution to Time Warner, denialists are on the march. Why are so many people refusing to accept what the evidence is showing them? This corporation have not accomplished anything non the past 15 years. History is a good predictor of future results.

IHX is the AT&T version of the Fuller Brush Man, the milk man and the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Salesperson!!! Nobody wants anyone to come into their house and no one wants to go to the store! Why do you think Amazon is taking over the world? But if that's true... No one needs an AT&T Retail Store nor do they want an uninvited tag along hopping a ride with the DirecTV installer!!! You people have your head's so far up Management's butts, I can't possibly understand how you drink the Kool-aid, yet somehow you still manage to practically drown in it!!! I love it!!!

The only reason that IHX has been considered by some to be a "success" is that the bar has been set so low (i.e. sales quotas) it appears that goals have been met or exceeded. You are nuts if you think it makes this experiment gone wrong a raging success! Anyone can be a winner when everyone gets a participation trophy!!! LMAO
