@Tcrwbo8-2cxb you are wrong. of course a fusion splice is "better" but a mechanical splice done properly will only lose .3 db, which is nothing. a fusion splice by comparison loses .05 - .1 db.

so if you are getting -15.1 at PFP, you can still get -15.4 to your ONT. i have two certifications in fiber optics. you are the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. you are just mad and bitter the company found a more cost effective way to get FTTP to customers.

Hmm I wish it was a rumor and who ever started this topic is right on the money. 30 percent cut for Prem techs and 20 percent for splicing. The company is now creating the combo tech like in other areas. Cwa has sold us out again X 1000000. I pray all affected find good jobs and stay positive. There is a life after at&t. God bless

since when do MDUs ever have connectorized fiber ? connectorized fiber screws into a port at a CFST.

you california techs still crying about prem techs working fiber ? lol. Fiberlok work just fine when done correctly. the real problem is the company doesn't properly train prem techs for fiber. its basically a half day class and then are turned on for fiber jobs. so it takes longer for them to get it down, but once they do it its fine. remember other regions have had prem techs doing fiber for years now. guess what, everything is working fine. repeats for bad splices are rare. get over it

Yeah I can’t even imagine how bad some of those MDUs turned out. Connectorized fiber is the stupidest f---ing idea ever. Just as bad as inids were.

It’s a time honored tradition here at T. Let’s take what always worked (fiber fusion splicing) and use these cheap crap 3m connectors instead because we are too cheap to buy the right tools. Even when the connectors are done right it doesn’t take much handling before they can fail....they’re just terrible all day everyday.

Seeing the process between fusion and connector is a no brainer on which is superior. Inside genuises as usual running us into the ground.

Tcrwbo8-pbj--You are correct. The only thing keeping T stock from dropping into the mid 20's is the 6% dividend. If anyone hears that the dividend is being cut, they need to sell!!

Makes more sense to have one person do the complete job. Core side constantly fixing fiber MDU mistakes done by the PTS. We now have customers requesting core side only to do the MDU work due to prior mistakes of the PTechs!! Fiber will move back to core side soon.

You have to be laid off so AT&T can afford the millions they need to bribe politicians.

Everything is in place, work has been slowed to very few tickets, cpe is low and isn't being replenished in any urgency, training has been halted. It's bad out here and it happened from one day to the next. The usual ominous MO T is known for before they bring down the axe.

Company wide layoff announcement June, 15, 2018. Company must reduce costs to pay the bond holders. ATT is deeply leveraged and is starting to suffer cash flow issues from declining customer base. In order to save the stock from crashing further the dividend pay out must be maintained at all costs. ATT is not a government entity and can’t raise taxes to pay its bills, so unlike government employees who are garanteed job security for life and generous pensions, att employees will be surplused to reduce expenses.
