This speculation and not knowing is worse than being laid off. Let tomorrow come, let's see what will happen, and let's be done with it. Even if it means I have to look for a new job.
Frankly, with severance in pocket how much worse can it be to stress over finding a job compared to stressing over losing a job each day?
I worked for VZW for 25 years and got laid off in 2015. Verizon/VZW lay off all the time (several times a year). Even if you dodge the bullet this time, layoffs will always be a possibility.
The job market IS strong right now. I waited for my check though, lol. I had been here too long and worked my butt off to just walk away with a new job (which is also happening). Perfect timing.
It will end when you leave which is 100% your choice. Stop playing the victim. The job market is strong right now.
There's always the next layoff to look forward to. Why wait and see and bail as soon as you can?
