Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

May 17th - The Rumors so Far

Keep in mind, these are UNCONFIRMED RUMORS. But here’s what we have so far:

• Elimination of Retail SMB. Solutions Specialists will be cross trained to handle this additional task. (In addition to tech support, key holder, merchandising and inventory)

• 1/3 of GM’s will be eliminated and the remaining will be “floating GM’s”

• Part time positions will return. (CONFIRMED: Posted internally already)

• Possible rumors of trial commissions being complete and going to team based commission

I’ve talked to managers in one of the trial markets that is non commission based and they said the morale is higher now and that NPS has seen a huge increase. Plus sales have gone up as well. They did lose their top performers right away but the company did not care.

Team based doesn't generate the results the company needs. The trial solely exists because the talent pool available in the trial markets are full of Millennial pussies that all received participation awards for 'giving a good effort'. Aka, the talent pool isn't motivated by commissions.

The other trial, the one where only phone ADDS count toward your multiplier and all other sales generate roll-up would have been great in the golden age of wireless. But I just don't see it ever rolling out. I geniunely feel Verizon needs to bring back strategic multipliers to reward GOOD salesmanship. Not just a device multiplier, bucket, leaderboard. Literally have a section that is based on price plans, revenue, and and devices sales/pt. OR go the TMobile route and just start paying out per device.

Retail SMB isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Our district manager said that team basee comission trials were dead, and they would absolutely not be rolling that out. Team members resorted to bullying and making their coworkers lives miserable if they felt they weren't pulling their weight and most top performers quit.
