does anyone know if it includes full health insurance for entire severance period.. meaning if you get 1 full year of severance do you get 1 full year of health insurance.. also is the bonus for 1 full year?

offers vs RIF's (a.k.a. layoffs) are two separate issues...if you raise your hand, expect the company to fight any unemployment claim you might make....the company must have figured out that it is cheaper to pay the employees a few extra bucks to 'volunteeer' than to RIF a whole swath of people and then get nailed with increased unemployment insurance payments to the high cost blue states in which the company predominately operates.

A friend, who is an employee, heard the same rumors. As a retiree and Verizon so use to RIFs, I cannot believe those rumors.

Regarding the unions in the east, I believe it was the 2003 contract that left new union employees open to Rifs hired after Aug 2003. Again, no reason to offer packages. But no idea how the new CEO thinks.

Only thing you have to do is make sure you can retire and not have to go back to work. I’ve got over 30 years but you never know if you’re ok because we live so much longer nowadays. I’m good because I’ve been working with an advisor and I’m waiting for the right package and I think this is it for me. Been great working with so many good people. Imma help y’all out. Call my guys at Morgan Stanley. 856-222-4505. George and Jason are smart and they tell you what you need to hear.

From my own reliable source, the letters are getting mailed out this Friday. As far as I know there is no cap either. They’ll take anybody who accepts it. Makes me wonder if they’ll still Theo in the 50k bonus?

For retail? It seems there are similar rumors out west. But this has been ongoing with little materialzation so far.

I'm going to stick with the current strategy: close or transfer locations on a lease by lease basis. Leases terminate at different times and unless HQ can negotiate with an indirect to assume an exisitng lease, I feel the slow death of retail will continue as it has been for the last two years.

Close one here, transfer another to indirect there, slowly but surely reducing stores.
