AT&T OPERATIONAL DYSFUCTION, WATCHDOG OPENS FIRSTNET INQUIRY

What is remarkable is that, even now, the T.B.T.F. antitrust club and some of its members are actually growing, not shrinking. A decade-long run of mergers in the industry has concentrated power in fewer choices, and the seem unable to stay off the daily controversy.

No pension for new union members was a blow to the union movement, how they allowed this to happen? Company like AT&T are looking for temporary workers only, while the old good boy Union network slowly goes into retirement as the union dies s.l.o.w.l.y, great job CWA

Don't forget the cost savings from new employees not having a pension. The more employees off pension or off sooner could release pension funds. With new young employees paying down student debt, buying cars, getting married, buying a house or saving for college; less contribute to a 401k account. I suspect the employees last to be covered by a pension option will be the next target. Why wait 40 years for them to retire then 40 more to pass away.

ATO will continue to be downsized - any work will go offshore. Its through attrition, keep making offers, keep surplussing - any hires are cheap grads, and offshore/outsource the rest. C Level can smugly sit back and boast how they cut so many costs. Saved so many dollars. Cut so many headcount through automation. They have to Revenues are falling. And someone forgot to let the engineers be engineers, coders, be coders, come up with something innovative. The innovation has been lost to cut an paste. Rinse repeat, follow this rabbit hole. IF your not creating and only buying your ideas, your methodologies, metrics someone else deemed important, not setting the standard, but accepting. what do you expect. It will be drained of all value and only be button pushers and outsourced talent.

This cell phone bill is too hard to understand. We need single payer cell service NOW - just like medical.

SYnergies, yo! Again, like the boiling frog metaphor, these companies make these changes at a somewhat glacial pace, hoping that consumers won't notice as they are gradually squeezed. For example, AT it simply takes some errant cost of doing business and shovels it below the line, letting the company in question falsely advertise a lower rate:

"When reached for comment, an AT&T spokesperson confirmed the existence of the fee increase. “This is a standard administrative fee across the wireless industry, which helps cover costs we incur for items like cell site maintenance and interconnection between carriers,” the spokesperson said in a statement."

Right. But "cell site maintenance" and "interconnection between carriers" are just the cost of doing business.

ATO is not going to be offshored completely by Q4. That is absurd. What are the target headcount numbers for the current voluntary offer and following surplus?
