ATO is Att Technology and Operations. Essentially it’s what DTV would have called the IT org. It’s currently anyone reporting up to Melissa Arnoldi.

ATO development coaches (formerly MSOC coaches) are by far the most unnecessary position in the company. They are essentially secretaries to the Area managers. I was very good friends with one. They are paid 80-100K a year to do desk and secretary work basically handling the work that the Area manager cannot, and hold the same tenure as a first line manager.

There's your answer.

As a former/legacy/adopted DirecTV tech - I have to ask - what exactly is an ATO?

We had one guy show up at our yard about 2 years ago claiming to be such an animal. All he did was eat his own doughnuts and promise to get RSN and AnyConnect on our phones.

Never saw him again.

@mso: Last time our workgroup was impacted our supervisor (area manager) called us individually to let us know if we were effected.

Next round of surplus in ATO (no volunteers). Current rumor on dates.

08-06-18: Impacted Groups notified via conference calls with summary

08-20-18: Those identified as surplus notified (probably via call from your manager)

10-19-18: Off the payroll (60 day period ending)

Good Luck
