North side of Chicago laying off 26 in our district
I think they are mostly getting rid of managers and you never hear anything about that unless, they wanted to spend more time with their families. A lot of managers have been let go and a lot more to come.
The only thing we really have is that the surplus for 2018 were to be announced 12/15/15, 3/15/18, 6/15/18 and 9/14/18 for some occupational bargaining units.
That's all that anyone really has. But, they don't wake on 6/15/18 and then decide. This deciding has been going on for awhile, and maybe some of it has leaked.
Generally, if a unit has a lot of furlough time (e-time) or is idle a lot, then layoffs could be a possibility.
And we know that landline telephone is winding down. I see AT&T is discontinuing Lifeline landline telephone in Texas. While landline telephone was a going business, they liked the Lifeline, because who cares who is paying for the service?
Is that proof though, nothing major happened in March.
