I just received word from my leadership that surplus announcements WILL be announced tomorrow. All business units will be impacted but the impact will be different. Also confirmed is an increase in the offer to management from 6 months of pay to 12 months of pay.

In most occupational job titles, the layoff, if it happens is in inverse seniority order. There are some titles that would put people with unsatisfactory or need improvement appraisals ahead of people with satisfactory appraisals, but not that many.
Management has always been performance, then seniority.
The devil is in the details insofar as any management buyout. I remember VRIP from the old AT&T corp, before SBC bought them. The lawsuits flew fast and furious as some people were getting out with 7 years of service while others were held with 25 years service.
A buyout, verses a layoff would probably be in seniority order. It might be that the buyout gives you the enhanced separation pay, while the layoff gives you nothing additional.
We'll find out if anything at all happens, Friday. 😉
Why would layoffs be based on performance and not seniority...I’ve never heard of that. Must be something new and hard to manage, especially in an office of high performers. Time will tell. I’m a recent grad with other offers so the severence is really what I’m looking for.
In Joni Arison/Maggie Weaklend group layoffs were announced 6/1. Those not looking internally leave 6/22 and those who wish to look internally leave 7/31
If severance boosted back up to year from six months, there will be some unhappy forced folks from 2015+.
se in south florida would be base according to performance and not seniority so far the news is 120 wire techs

@yek: it’s probably handled different based on management and non management. Tomorrow we have a call with our Director as first level management not sure how non-management is being handled.
They may get more ‘volunteers ‘ than they want. How do they announce this? Group calls, email?
