Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

If Verizon is so terrible...

...then why don't you just leave? if your life is so miserable and you feel you are so undervalued and underappreciated, make a change and go somewhere else. If you're that good of an employee then your skills will be properly acknowledged elsewhere. I don't understand why so many people complain every day but do nothing to change it.

Well, I see we are back to name calling and insults which means no one can convince anyone else that their position is correct. So, I guess that means the debate is over.

@1lwc , What a great reply. I see you lack wisdom. Lesson one, many very good employees have been laid off . Their attitudes had nothing to do with their demise. SM's have their own agenda.

Why should I leave when VZ pays me a lot for doing so little. The BS doesn't bother me any more, gonna ride that horse till it falls. Then I'll have to go get a real job I guess.

How small-minded you must be to think people can suddenly uproot such an integral part of their livelihoods.

It’s silly to cast blame on workers when you have people in positions of power that hoarde wealth while steadily underpaying their workforce and stripping away benefits. People have a right to complain about how dramatic and unjust the changes have been in Wireless and Wireline. Verizon now is not the Verizon I was hired into, and it’s infuriating to watch it degrade year over year into something I no longer recognize.

It shouldn’t bother you that people are unhappy. It’s very telling of your character.

@kvl , @gvx, @jrt, you earlier complained, "You're guilty of the same. Stop complaining."

While that may an observation, there is a complaint of the OP being "guilty of the same".

There is also an order to "stop complaining".

So, let's be real.

If it walks like a duck,

and quacks like a duck...

@oik OP Here...theres this strange concept that you can use the internet simply to read things out of curiosity. Im content working there, so I will stay for a while...and if I wasnt, I'd just leave. Simple thought process with no emotion, and I control my career as much as I can.

I am glad you felt the need to call me a bit©h, however clearly YOU feel fear at work as you believe its in the culture, so it turns out you are actually the bit©h running away.....

@jrt saying "I don't understand why so many people complain every day but do nothing to change it" isnt a complaint, its an observation.... as someone else pointed out, its nice to just read about possible layoff rumors, and not post cry-baby complaints in hopes that others agree. If you dont like the food you eat, you get something else...dont like your shirt? buy a new one...dont like a song youre listening to? change it.....dont like your job? get a new one....the thought process is actually simple....

The purpose of a layoff site is to get information about potential upcoming layoffs, not to hear people complain about the job they currently have. I am pretty sure that everyone would like to make more money, have better benefits, somewhat less workload, and maybe even better ethics. However, none of that has anything to do with layoffs.

Verizon use to be a great place to work, or at the very lease you could deal with the BS because of the pay.

The company and industry has changed. There are plenty of jobs out there that pay similarly to Verizon now when you consider the commission changes.

I'm working on my resume now but also know that I won't jump ship until its the right fit. I don't have time to do a start over to something that isn't good.

However, if you are so concerned about people complaining then why are you even wasting your time on the lay off site?

To me, I don't complain at work. I still show respect to my team, managers and customers. I do find a little joy in reading some of these posts and understanding that my thought process isn't alone though

They don't quit because they know they couldn't make this money somewhere else. Plus, if they wait around long enough maybe Verizon will pay them to leave. Really as simple as that. There's a certain mentality to go along with that, and normal society doesn't have a lot of nice terms for it.

If you don't like the provided clothing, you don't like the sales targets, you don't like the commission structure, you don't like the sales tactics, you don't like dealing with older people, you don't like providing customer service, you don't like management, you don't like the company, and therefore you are totally unhappy, then quit and find another job that makes you happy. Complaining about it on this board is not going to resolve anything. If you think Lowell (soon to be Hans) and the rest of senior management come to this board for information on how to run the company, you are sadly mistaken.

Some trolls are not happy unless they are griping.

Usually hate filled union trolls, but sometimes other trolls.

VZ is not bad enough to leave yet, but it is getting close.

We have a saying in Germany, "Instead of complaining that your rosebush has thorns, be happy your thorn bush has roses."

Preacher Fuller once sadly opined, "We are born crying, live complaining, and die disappointed."

Hum, maybe on a layoff site to get information on layoffs, not to listen to VzW whining. Here's a thought, why don't the VzW whiners go to the Sargento site and get some cheese to go with their whine.
