Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why Did AT&T Get Rid Of Glenn Lurie?

Glenn seemed like a rising star.. then he was out the door. He saved AT&T by getting the Apple Iphone contract exclusive deal. Last heard he was head of some fraud company that got delisted from nasdaq. Seems T could use some one like Luire now with the merger integration.

I think Glenn got pissed at something and just retired. They were in process at that time moving lots of people out of Atlanta. He maybe didn't want to take up Dallas as his new home. I saw a few exec's that did that in my years. Not everyone stays until they die.

Now the AT&T stock price is BELOW where is was pre iPhone.... When will the board wake up and get a new CEO. Preferably an outsider like IBM did when they hired Lou, who made the elephant dance again.... Too bad for IBM subsequent CEO's are not as good... In the meantime, need new fresh outside leadership again to make this T elephant dance before it dies.

The Apple deal was a very good one for Apple and a not so good one for AT&T. Apple sold many devices with a fat margin and its stock took off. AT&T had to invest heavily in the network for capacity issues that it was, as usual, unprepared for and suffered many "black eyes" for lousy service as a result of this lack of available capacity, and its stock price is essentially where it was before the Apple deal. So it looks to me like Apple made all of the money and AT&T got socked with all of the expense, bad publicity, and no increase in its stock price. I am sure Apple was laughing all of the way to the bank, while Randy and John were sweating trying to figure out how to pay for all of the additional network capacity they needed.
