Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is Being Shady More Low Risk Than People Let On?

Let’s say you work in a COR store and lots of “just get a new number,” or “you need DTV NOW to get $0 downpayment requirements even when you don’t” type of stuff happens, yet you never see repercussions and as someone who doesn’t do that your numbers have “fallen behind” (less than 200% attainment).

Let’s say you get to thinking that churn isn’t as big a deal as the company lets on...

Is it? Will that get me laid off? Am I just being a puss by not doing these things? Thinking about it too much? I’m not going to rat anyone out, I just want to know if I can participate with little to no chance or repercussion..? Thoughts?

Go easy on him. Upper management will make you feel like your worthless yet you will have customers waiting around the block only for you. They will threaten your livelihood and try to make you feel like the bad person for not committing fraud. They have twisted minds and their rationale is all messed up.

My experience is if they want to get rid of you, they will find something to do it with, most every person I have seen get fired is because of a “technicality”, points, cobc, etc.... I have actually never seen someone get fired for performance, it’s way too difficult to observe bad behaviors enough times to get someone fired. You cannot be fired for lack of numbers in a store. The union will not allow it. So my thoughts are if they want you fired they will find a reason, if your making numbers that would be less likely

With over 20 years in wireless retail, here's how it goes. The only way you'll get promoted is lose the conscience and increase the psychiatric medicine. Or, work for a small AR who actually cares about growing a business properly.

Follow the example set by management, lie, cheat and steal.

I do find it interesting how no one can answer the black and white question of “are the policies ACTUALLY policed.” Leads me to believe the answer is “no.”

It makes it hard for me to believe AT&T actually gives a rat’s sack about experience and being “premium.” Otherwise why would they celebrate, “Look Ma! I cheated again!!”

Theres also a reason why Apple is so profitable per sq foot. No greasy used car salesmen. I dunno. I feel as if I in Rome and may as well do likewise. And if I get fired, just take as a company sponsered new job search.

“Do you have integrity? I think not if you’re considering this behavior.”

I think I’m their defense it’s behavior secretly encouraged by leadership in ATT all the way up to the VP. The goals Directors have to hit are higher than the market will allow so leadership will turn their head the other way or struggle and eventually loose their job to someone who is willing to turn their head.

The problem is Senior Leadership and their unrealistic revenue goals.

AT&T COBC is a f---ing joke. I used to record on my phone every time my manager opened his mouth. And the tech that mentioned jelled Jobs is 100% spot on. I couldn’t lie to my customers and have them scammed by some shady salesperson.

From a techs perspective, I cannot tell you how many jobs i have Jep’d because customer was “misinformed”. This ultimately makes it harder for me to hit my metrics and can lead to poor customer surveys that result in suspensions. Shady sales tactics affect more than just your store and often leaves someone else to clean up the mess. Most techs I know will not perform outside of their morale compass just so you can keep your sale.

Can’t really get fired for not doing it. Behaviors are there, goals are being met. I want to know if I can just be a cheater and make more money. Besides, people are too careless with other COBC content where I work, so if I go down its gonna be messy. Recordings etc. Anyway; the question isn’t being asked for ratting purposes but for the purpose of finding out if anyone ever gets into real trouble for it.

Like, why not just do it? Then there is the whole concept of what is likelihood of retail even being here in 5 years? Maybe some hubs in major cities (which I’m in/near) but...those positions are going to be rarified by that point.

It is indeed a moral dilemma. In the end, I got fired because I wouldn't do it. If you truly wish to keep your job, do it. If you are tired of the sh--hole that AT&T wants to continue down... Do yourself a favor and find another job. Even flipping burgers would be an improvement over the corruption that AT&T encourages. You will feel better about yourself. I promise.
