So from what I see the common denominator for SSRs is the workload has decreased around 80%. If that what the T wants- pay someone something for nothing more power to them. Oh Wait! They are in the National news for just that!

Rumor about impending layoff has been going on for the past 2 years and honestly even longer than that in the company. I’ve personally heard it’s going to happen X date like 14 times already. Especially on this site..so it’s gotten to the point where I don’t believe anything anymore. If it happens it happens. Either it’s a layoff or a workforce reduction that’s going to happen, I’d imagine a workforce reduction would make more sense but I’d wager a full layoff makes more sense. The lack of asms in the stores already would make day to day operations a bit more difficult, but a majority of back end stuff has been streamlined and a ton easier. Overall day to day stuff has been either removed or at the very least slowed down substantially,

Here are the facts.

There are no SSR positions open, which is exactly what happen last time when they were Work forced adjusted, or in the case of finance reps layed off.

Typically stores that have had them and the SSR has left they weren’t replaced or filled again. This obviously isn’t everywhere but a majority were not replaced.

A lot of SSR work has either been removed or made easier.Audits are almost laughable now with the lack of questions and items. Typically back end work would take days to do, now most of it can be done in a few hours. I remeber spending hours on cars and paper work, now cars doesn’t exist and paperwork doesn’t even need to be “fixed”. Even resets which would take HOURS with multiple people have become almost nonthing. Granted now with iPog they don’t seem to change things up like they used too. They would move stuff around for no reason, now things pretty much stay the same till the phone is EOL.

Here is the good news, and that’s if a layoff does happen...

You will still have a job. It will s--- for people in rural areas that don’t have stores close, but those in the city will at least have multiple stores they can be put in. Maybe, they will go with the original rumor and just do a work force adjustment like have done for the past 10+ years and trim the head count. I’m a solo SSR in a sm3 store, and things are sloooooow. I can only imagine those in sm1 or sm2 stores...I hammer out most of my work in a few hours.

From what I was told a few months ago, it was going to be a repeat of 2012 and it was a reduction. Sm3 being slotted 1 SSR/ given multiple stores they drive too to do daily task.

I also heard sm1 stores would be losing ASMs and would be a manager with the floating SSR to handle back end stuff if needed. Although that might be off, I don’t see how you can not have a manager in the store but who knows.

They might be phased out but the way things are going may get job offers to replace the board of directors
