Trump and Stephenson should get academy awards for their acting in the press and congressional hearings. Stephenson knew the time warner deal was bought and paid for when he was testifying before congress.....and trump knew about the payment to cohen.

Way to go AT&T! You have completely destroyed any integrity and value of the AT&T brand. A brand so many have worked hard for many years to create. Stephenson you are a greedy self-serving pig.

agree with last poster....these are the payments that are known.....as they say...if you can see one rat in your house there are thousands of others you can't see...meaning how many millions and millions of dollars of shady money has Stephenson paid to "Get approval" for deals?

This guy is CORRUPT! He is abusing the investors money which includes employees of course but teachers, police and firemen who have pensions invested in his nefariously led public corporation.

hey dumb--s....the $600K to cohen is the payment we know about....you think this is the first time or the only payment? The fix was in from the beginning to "buy" approval for the time warner acquisition....

There are other payments to "advisors" in the US and even bigger payments offshore for the deal....

AT&T employees are not mad -- us union folks got a healthy raise and we are making $45/hr.

This smells of influence peddling and it probably isn't the fist time it has happened; just the first time it was exposed to daylight. I bet you a dollar AT&T is paying big money to crisis communication consultants that are trying to the spin on this story. At the same time they are getting ready for big budget cuts.

Something just occurred to me. While Time Warner presents a shiny object, the First Responder Network, authorized by Congress awarded AT&T its contract Mar 30th, 2017.

Through its "insights" into how to bid on this, if any of these "firms" that AT&T spent on helped land the deal, then all the payments to all these "firms" such as Cohen's "firm" might be paid for. AT&T said "several firms".

According to AT&T, this $40B over 25 years deal will generate 10,000 jobs.

(This doesn't mean a 10,000 job net gain, because landline will still be wound down, but deals like this offset declining areas of the business.)

It is unknown what return AT&T received for the money spent. When all is said and done, after the return on investment, AT&T made money, not spent it.

One thing is for sure. If there was a return on investment, we're not going to hear about it from AT&T.

But lobbying, which requires spending money occurs with corrupt governments, because the money spent is recouped, and then some. And then some ...
