Ple and nano cost vs proper training, another boondoggle to Johns kids company, they are ringing this out as much as possible

Other major companies like IBM are dumping all the older people also, just like at&t - just check their posts out on this board. and you don't have to be that old to be considered 'old' here either. i can imagine the bitterness from all the people within several years of pension, otherwise there really is no reason to stay if you want to move on.

A lot of bitterness on this post. I am not a fan of At&t as well, but if you hate the company so much, why not just leave instead of being miserable.

Nanodegree will not help promotion now, it may help in the future(like 2020) if you are not impacted by the upcoming surpluses over the next 3 years(about 25-30% will be layedoff). It’s also useful if want to learn some basic functions for free.

Other major companies like IBM, Lockeed Martin, NVDIA also use nanodegree but there is not indication that it will help you land a job in those companies.

I'm working on mine in HR Surplus and corruption, I expect these will be useful in management. If they are also offering lies and deception, that should also do well at T

if at&t needs more technologically skilled people they can go thru hundreds\thousands of them in india to replace you. it's a done deal, don't fall for the nano degree bs. it's ok to pursue one for your next gig if you need to learn something new, but you might run up against the same bias at competing companies as well.

you foks drinking the company Kool Aid are cute. Nano degrees, Six Sigma, etc don't matter in the least.

If you're bargained for, layoffs will go by seniority. If you're not, the boss will can who he/she dislikes the most. They'll find a reason.

I am retired, hired in 1979. It's always been this way. Just do your job, cash the checks, and don't think T gives a cr*p about you, because they don't.

Anyone who spends personal time trying to get ahead is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Don't be naive

The nanoedegree is useful and can teach you a new skill set; However as of now it does NOT help with job growth within AT&T but that is likely to change as T wants its employees to be more technically savvy. So I would suggest to take the nanodegree since it’s free and will prep you potentially for the future.

That being said it does not really help with companies outside of AT&T and does not help in the resume. If you just want to learn or plan on staying in T till 2020 it’s worth it. I personally would encourage leaving T by 2020, but that’s my opinion.

They don't care, it's good,for personal development, that's it. An Amazon, Cisco, oracle, type of certification would be better. An actual industry certification, not some nonsense used to keep the millennial busy.

Nanodegrees are valuable at ATT. They help your Nanocareer with the company.

I got one. Didn’t seem to make a difference.
