Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

One on Ones SOLUTIONS SPECIALISTS

Basically getting rid of the behavioral coaching & performance actually matters now!

My ASM told me in my one on one that we MUST hit the goals per her uppers & that their threatening emails she’s receiving must not be ignored when it comes to observations & writing us up. It is now effective.

They will all Nit Pick now & Micro Managing will keep up as well....

The time is coming. Retail is DOOMED!

Micro Managing is an ineffective form of “leadership”. There’s no benefits for either the company or frontline worker and in fact its known to to impact performance and have lower results.

Not sure why you are so pumped up to defend micromanaging. I been in sales about 10 years and there’s just no need of this kind of “leadership’ in any industry no matter what you’re selling.

@T20DTfL-3uwh State your name and location since you’re so tough.

Here’s a thought. Shut up and do your job. If you’re doing what you should be micro managing doesn’t matter. The only people that complain about micro managing are lazy people who can’t sell.

Figure i will throw this here since we have plenty of kiss a-- workers and VZW managers who roam around here.

"The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them. A successful business owner needs to be both a strong leader and manager to get their team on board to follow them towards their vision of success."

This literally covers 99% of managers at VZW with a margin of error.

@T20 said it best. Verizon hires managers nof leaders because of the buddy system. "Hire the guy that gives me a laugh and hangs with me and is my kind of guy even tho he is a terrible employee ". A

And no I'm not bitter I have 6V position but I see it all the time when qualified people with proven results are passed over for someone's friend and we wonder why numbers are down. If you're a terrible manager and your teams know it morale will definitely go down. You think customers don't see and feel it and don't want to come in those locations?

Plus I've worked in different markets, territories, and districts. So I've seen it everywhere.

OK I'm off my soapbox lol.

Its one thing to be held tp numbers its another to use scare tactics and micro manage to death in hopes of getting numbers. Why isn’t their an actual plan of action to ensure these measures are met? Is the best they have to scare sales reps? That’s not how you generate sales.

Nobody seems to have any answers just keep micro managing and keep threatening. Where is the leadership? Where is the team work? Where is the action plan?

Its not there because VZW promoted managers not leaders, anybody can be a manager very few can be leaders.

It's obvious that Verizon is looking for excuses to fire as many people as possible, to cut down on severance packages when the time comes. Everyone with a brain knows that.

This board is a joke. It’s full of people who wanted a job as a commissioned sales rep and now are complaining because they’re behind held accountable to sell. Like the person said in the first repsonse said, “Stop being babies and work”. You guys would never make it in any of the other sales positions the company has beyond solutions specialist. If you guys think you have high quotas, ask a B2B rep what their’s is.

Credo is a joke and these things are coming from the top down, it's not just a store or a district, it's regions so it has to be starting at the top.

The credo only works if it benefits the company

Trust there isn’t anything “hard” about you. I assume you’re a manager. Please state your stats, credentials, awards, district, store, position, tenure, YoY, MoM (not the ugly one), etc... since you have so much to say.

The Verizon credo says that anyone can state their views to anyone else regardless of title or level. So, why not contact your boss’ higher ups and explain to them why their quotas are too high? If they don’t like it, remind them of the credo.

Threatening to fire people makes them do even worse. It’s terrible. At this point I’d welcome a pink slip. There is literally no foot traffic in my store and the only way people are getting net adds is by setting up prepaid numbers or adding a CPE GIzmopal to the account without the customer even knowing. “there’s just going to be a five dollar charge added to the bill, okay?”

Scare tactics isn’t effective leadership and it’s not how you generate sales.

Wait... so we actually will have to work now?? We can’t say “oh this is a tablet do you want it?” And then move on?? Behavioral coaching is a joke lol. It’s an excuse we have to not be fired for never hitting quota “ but I’m doing my behaviors they just aren’t working”! Meet the numbers or leave. We aren’t paid to go on Facebook or chitchat with coworkers! You’re all soft! I hate to have some sales competition when people will actually gave to be at the door, but maybe I’ll also have less tech questions when they are dispersed evenly. Stop being babies and work.
