I can say I’m not aware of any dtv techs being cross trained to install in home/business internet and phone products in T turfs, even though it was supposed to happen long ago....

Perhaps no need to retrain workforce you’re not intending to keep??

If Randy ran a car wash...he would be confused about why the well managed and staffed car wash down the street was doing so much better, after all he painted his building the same color as theirs.

DTV employees used and abused then thtown away like garbage, it's the AT&T way.

It's a lost cause, Randall will parachute out of this disaster as soon as the dividend starts dropping, you can't continue to lose stock value to debt and pay a dividend, it's a scam. Randall will gladly pay you on Tuesday for that company today. Proble with the acquisitions is while looking to drive revenue are not profitable. It's a losing bet. The lower the stock, the more hard cash will be needed if the gov allows the merger, expect massive cuts, to cover the cost. Then outsource everything. Good Luck to everyone, and it's a sad situation for Legacy DTV. thanks for stopping by

If Randy ran a car wash...there would be only one person actually doing the work but Randy and two other execs would sit in a fancy office and use a PA system to shout that the customer comes first.

Randall is a genius, amazing, AT&T failure put on the government, this guy could not even run a car wash successfully.

Continuous cycle of management stupidity.

When will it end?

Maybe then retail wouldn't be a hell hole where you have to screen shot PCAs and send to management every customer every time. You want a charging cable? Let me have your license. You have do not disturb mode turned on? Wait in line for 30 minutes so we can screen shot your PCA and send it to managment.

This goes back to an off-hand remark made by trump that he would oppose the Time Warner deal unless T either spun off CNN or spun off DTV. Nothing in the recent closing arguments for the TW merger points to either happening in order to get the merger approved.

Now, if you are talking about long term value - then funding a 20 year old technology like Satellite TV is not going to make you the new Silicon Valley. Three years ago, we Directv folks watched a video where Randy said "No Dishes" and "No Boxes" then went on his sales pitch for Directv Now. He left out the "No Installers" part - but we know our years are numbered.

Our feelings is that we were bought to get Sunday Ticket and access to our South American and Mexican markets so he could pimp more cell phones since the States are saturated.

Threaten all officers with CAPs and PIPs like all the rest of us. Literally had a DOS meeting where that was the answer to everything to threaten the frontline managers with it over and over.

Directv purchase was for content and licensing. It’s the same reason they are trying, and will fail, to buy time warner.

They should have just leveraged their uverse line if they wanted to get into streaming, but old randy thought Hillary was going to win and democrats would approve their crazy monopoly merger.

Trumps win pumped the brakes on that ones lmao..what a waste of money. It’s digital life failure all over again. You can’t just buy whole markets and think you can push that to your existing customers

Pure poppycock! AT&T already had a distribution pipeline in place... The purchase of DirecTV was an enormous waste of billions of dollars when, with just a little bit of work, AT&T could and should have utilized the resources already in place. Especially if the only thing they truly wanted to achieve was to achieve a streaming service. And you can't begin to justify the ridiculous amount of money spent when there are at least a dozen other streaming services who don't have the satellite TV service infrastructure in place... Just to stream content. And many of them such as Amazon and Netflix have created content without purchasing a television/movie studio. It is a lame argument at best. Just lazy.

"Word is" ...complete unsubstantiated nonsense. Last thing T wants is to divest DirectTV. The idea is to have the pipe as well as the content. You don't know what you're talking about.

They are getting rid of it. It’s being converted to stream over their network.

If Randy and upper management were judged by the same standards as everyone else in the company they would have been put out the door years ago.

Something is very wrong in corporate America when people like Randy are given responsibility for a company like AT&T. He is driving it right in to the ditch.

What's next, they try to gut our pension to pay management bonuses?

They didn’t need Direct tv to have content before if they divest DTV it they will keep the nfl rights everything else isn’t worth keeping. Focus on fiber, get TW and package a better att tv streaming service and that’s all you need to actually compete with cable. DTV with its old satellite tech is an anchor. Toss it.

DirecTV is going the way of Digital Life. Not immediately, but it will. The current leadership is too arrogant to realize it now.

I doubt they sell it. Dumb move to buy it though. I think DTV Now was a dumb move also. “Disrupting” ourselves was a bad decision. We’ve done nothing but lost money. I think our “leaders” need to put down the SillyCon CEO autobiographies and books. Better move would have been to buy Netflix. But I digress, I’m just a lowly nobody.

If there’s a way for them to sell Directv but keep Directv Now I can see the company jumping on that bandwagon. It could fix some of their debt issues pretty quickly. Streaming is their overall plan anyway.

I wonder if the Main stockholders would actually let that happen. This would be one of the biggest blunders ever. Purchasing was a blunder. Selling would be a blunder. Wow, how many billions would be lost.
