Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

All of you TFS guys just bi--h and moan whenever a prem tech has to place a ticket for a blocked conduit or if the terminal is ripped off the pole. On top of that you don’t do what we ask for or Jep the job and claim it was a not valid ticket when it clearly is within your job duties to complete. Why do we keep you guys around? Just give me a powered fish tape and 1 week of TFS training and I would never need to look at your ugly mugs.

Question to the original post. Why are you not with the company anymore and do you wish you still worked there as a pt? As a core employee of 20 years I have respect for everyone who earns it. I have spent countless hours going above and beyond helping my fellow employee as wiretechs. I’ve hung their drops, helped them run homeruns and helped them understand that this company created a dead end title taking advantage of the job market in dire times. I agree I have had generous amounts of money thrown at me but I am dedicated to my job and the customers. There’s nothing easy about what I do and I respect the hard work a wiretech does as well. With that said the company created a hostile work environment with that title and put everyone in a blender and turned it on high. Don’t hate the player hate the game the company created and promotes.

I started off at $8.75 and it was 10yrs before I made $20 an hour. And yes another decade or so later we make good money. You prems think you should have it all now. Stick around 25yrs and you’ll be there.

In my area we are getting back the fiber work from the prem techs cause they cant handle it.They are also giving us prem tech work to do as in bonded pair from the vrad to the subs computer.Really cant see any MST working in the homes cause we are dirty and smell ! But if they want us tracking mud through the homes and banging holes in the walls well iam game ! Game on !

You are correct while TFS and IEFS are fighting with one another The Company is contracting out the technology that will replace both departments. 5G wireless technology coupled with automation and the invention of IPV6 results in a pivotal point in networking that will create new opportunities but decimate the job opportunities and functions that we have currently. I don't understand why people don't seem to realize in both departments that they are fighting to be the last man standing in a dying technology that will result in the elimination of everyone involved.

wow, that video with randall and trump says it all. for every one of those 5g cell stations put up means several thousand people can be cut and save even more on future pension liability. i would assume they have contracted out the installs to save more money. i foresee tough times ahead for a lot of employees here.

I started in 1979 at 4.85 an hour. 5 year progression. Went on strike 4 or 5 times. Fought for retirees. Didn't have a Saturday off for 19 years. A holiday week for 21. You don't know of it because many of you were 6 at the time.

You new folks complaining is amusing. Some of you can't even run a jumper.

Retired in 2017, and judging from the "work" some new folks do, glad to be gone.

Well said quality and putting the cust first was #1 I remember same day buss customer repairs, med emergency tkt done ASAP or stay late to take care off them!! Not crap work like now to make some bean counter metrics look good.....Embarrassing

If you think I'm going to apologize to you or anybody else because I hired on back in the 80's when this was a great place to work, you've lost your mind. I've put in 30 years of blood, sweat, and tears. What have you done? I can quite literally do any and everything from the CO to the customers equipment, copper or fiber. What can you do? Us old folks have earned the right to complain because we were around when people actually took pride in their work and the end product showed it. The level of craftsmanship being displayed now, by all departments, is disgusting.
