Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Anybody else still looking for a job?

My mom was laid off last year by Humana and she is still having trouble finding new employment. She keeps going on interviews but nothing comes out of it.

Is this normal? How quickly do other people who were laid off managed to find work? I know six months is not a long time, but I just hate seeing her stress as much as she does. I worry for her health, to be honest.

I was layoff in April of last year at the time I had a part-time job in a nursing home.

When the layoff happen I increase my hours to 32 per week and use my severance package and 401k money to subsidize my income and to retrain it was a tough year suffer a lot of depression at the end I was able to start a job as a network technician.

So my advice to your mom will be don't give up the next great opportunity might be arround the corner and she will get one eventually.

I had to take a temp job because I still can’t find work. I have been looking since November. It’s very very stressful! With three kids I am barely getting by. I think employers see you were laid off and feel it’s due to your work performance so they look at other candidates.

I was affected in this last round of layoffs. Things started off slow on Feb but once March hit. I have had four job offers. Keep applying something will come through.

I am in the group of November layoffs. I am still looking too. I have gone on several interviews and had some offers. I am on the older side and I am taking my time deciding what I am going to do next. I may go back to school or look at getting certified in something else. I refuse to give up and know that there is something out there that is a great fit. Tell your mom to keep looking.. it will happen for her too.

I think in the round I was in-- the November one-- at least three have found other jobs. Two were in the KY area, another in Fl. My concern is for your mother-- and I truly hate to even type this-- her age? Is she near retirement age at all? Agism???

I truly don't know-- I just know I'm not 20 anymore and the idea of another office to fit into just doesn't thrill me with all the younger folks running around-- and all the various types of kool-aid to be told to drink.....
