Punch out to eat a snack?

Has everyone received the mandate that if you eat anything you have to punch out. Even something as little as a tiny snack that takes 10 seconds to grab and chew? We've received emails from HR about that. I feel that's targeted towards retail because I don't see people working on offices having to punch out to leave their desk and grab something from the fridge or run to the vending machine in the break room. It's like the smoking thing all over again. They told us that was for everyone but you talk to people that work in local headquarters they don't even know about the rule

Where the hell are you people working? I have plenty of issues with the company but clocking in and out is not one of them. I dont ever clock put for anything. My lunch breaks are compromised of a 5 min snack ( my choice) for which i dont clock out. Ocassionally we go to the gas station accross the street for energy drinks but we dont clock out either. For the time ive worked in the company OT has never been an issue for producing stores.

@3ddo, "We Never Stop Working For You" was a genius slogan, as was "Can You Hear Me Now."

I also loved the "Where The Wild Things Are" campaign during the B.A. days in the 90s, as well as James Earl Jones making our pitch in the early 2000s.

This was marketing at its best, in my opinion

Where you ask about taking a crap. It's been said it's likely that bathroom breaks will also have to happen off of the clock as well. They're exploring if that is legal and they can make it happen. It'll probably come down to length of bathroom breaks. Some people hang out in there for 30 minutes. My managers don't punch out for their smoke breaks and their cliq don't either. But that same manager will make me clock out for 2 minutes to eat a quick snack when there isn't a customer in the store.

I don’t miss Verizon one bit. Here at AT&T we get 2 paid 15 minute breaks everyday. Union perk I guess. I do enjoy coming back here from time to time. It reaffirms that I made the right choice to jump off this sinking ship. Lol. I do feel bad for the reps still there though.

Its all a control thing here at verizon. Do what they say, even if a detriment to the business, or get disciplined and fired.

Meanwhile alot of the buildings at verizon have electronic swipe card locks that do not lock, anyone can walk in or out.

C---roaches alive and dead are in almost all buildings. Water doesnt work.

Bathrooms backed up with sewage and they just lock the door and put out of order sign up.

It is better to do the wrong thing here and stand with your boss and the masses than to do the right thing and get fired and stand alone.

It is what it is.

Hats off to senior management for collecting above average pay, being called out for it and ignoring it while running the company into the ground.

Yeah, you are shutting down the unions here, but only by ruining the company and brand name.

Again, hats off.

It's bad at our location. Let's say it's dead and you leave the floor to get some water. They'll ask if you signed out for a "15 min break" even if it's just water. Crazy times I tell ya.

we do not have desks anymore, just open space.

Noisy and unproductive.

Do not badge in or out.

That would be easy to beat, just talk to your union rep. That's harassment, plain and simple.

What if you drink a shake for snack? Will their head explode trying to figure that out?

It's made up by your Store Maagement, who are usually on 8 hour breaks and just hang out for the day. Observe a solution manager or Store GM during a 8 hour shift during a weekday and see what they really do.( not much to nothing)
