Retail Surplus

The March 15th date came and went with no news. Anyone heard about any updates on when COR to AR handoffs, closures and retail surplus is happening?

The last I heard, there has been a turn around in shutting down COR stores, though they may still close some Level 1 stores that have low traffic. Apparently they are headed in the direction now of adding additional COR stores to each area and not so heavy on adding ARs.

“I hear it's hard to get waited on at retail stores. One waited 30+minutes with reps sitting around playing on the internet while he waited to get a new phone and just left to T-mobile for new service on the faster, more reliable network. Had same experience in Verizon Retail store. Maybe they should close all retail and go online sales only. Just how often do you really get a new customer wonder into a store to establish service, They money they would save for us shareholders.”

Seriously!?!? You obviously know nothing about how wirelesss works. The stores are necessary as it is a more complex sales cycles than regular retail and enterprise customers like having access to a person at will.

You store about someone waiting is anecdotal and gives experience of one customer in one store versus the hudreds of thousands of customers that are helped everyday. T has it faults but the retail arm is one of the best in the business as evident by its multiple JD power awards. I should know I used to work for T as a district manager.

I am still a shareholder and if they got rid of their, T would struggle. Ramesh is right to keep and grow the retail distribution for now. As a shareholder I would do more research on the companies you invest in...

The share holder response is a complete douche bag who has no idea what they are talking about.

Usually when a customer says they waited half an hour it is usually only 10 minutes and if a customer says reps were sitting around playing on the internet it usually means the rep was using an opus mobile tablet to help another customer.

Managers and SSRs not selling with low staffed stores. I understand why they don’t sell.

The surplused was supposedly scheduled last year but the new EVP Ramesh is trying to compete with Verizon and T-Mobile with larger retail distributions and does not want to close stores as a result. It wasn’t anything about the union as the surplus was for RSMs and store closings.

I would still try to leave Att and cor as I am sure retail will take a hit eventually as we seen in other industries in retail, it may just take a few more years.

The person that posted that COR doesn’t get paid on upgrades either clearly does not work for the company anymore or is just out of touch with retail and therefoare should not be chiming in on this topic.

AR has already gotten to that point. The only way to make money is TV and post paid voice gross adds. If you want to make money on anything else you better sell insurance and lots of accessories. Thank you AT&T for your comp enhancements.

Once COR is closed AR will follow. COR employees don't make money on phone upgrades, just new acts and emerging services like DTV. Upgrades pay the bills for AR. If COR closes, AR's will be held to the same goals that COR was. Those numbers are 60 to 80% fake numbers. This will close ARs and force retail to be either through the phone or online. Good luck SS Titanic / AT&T.

It's already been discussed. The rumor was a calculated misinformation act on at&t's part to get the union and it's members scared so they would sign for lower wages and crappy benefits. The contract even got a clause that says IF a store were to close or a position be outsourced that a job within mobility will be offered.

union guys fell for it, sad. Hook Line and Sinker.
