Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

And so the trial begins

Anybody here thinks that the merger actually stands a chance in this trial?

I'll be honest, I am against it. I can only imagine how many layoffs we would have in the name of consolidations. So as far as I'm concerned, for once I'm on the side of government (there's a first time for everything, I recon.)

So these idiots are buying dying companies and someone mentions Cambridge Analytica? First and most Sthephenson and cronies are not that advanced , the can't seem to look beyond their own nose, as far as CA is concerned they secured personal data in order to learn about individuals and then used it to create an information cocoon to change their perceptions, probably they used it with you and your dumb post, 😂, so let me eclmain how is done; This is based on an idea called 'informational dominance,' which is the idea that if you can capture every channel of information around a person and then inject content around them, you can change their perception of what's actually happening,"

Cambridge Analytica? Data mining is all we’re interested in, providing the pipe is secondary!

It’s pretty clear AT&T is in trouble. Look at their current campaign of trying to take back big cities...they lost a ton of customers to T-Mobile. Their network is in one of the worst shapes I’ve ever seen it, with super slow and spotty service. I never went on WiFi using AT&T service, and now I feel the only way to actual use the internet it requires me to be off cellular. Unless I want to deal with buffering videos or slow loading websites.

One of the benefits of paying premium for AT&T was their fast network. Now it’s hard to even justify the price because that’s gone.

Just wait till they start streaming dtv over cellular.

As long as they keep our dividends solvent. remember all 401 matching dollars are in stock. LOL....T wiil be T, Shareowner value is no. 1 priority, employees are somewhere near the bottom of the list behind customers.

Trust Randy and his ilk to do the right thing? Unless you are in upper management and expect to somehow benefit personally, I think Randy the liar needs some close scrutiny, he is doing his best to screw American workers just to put a little more money in his pocket.

T wants to transition customers to DirectNow, trading dollars for pennies from superior products such as U verse and DirecTv, but again they want less overhead , Less employees, etc..do you see the picture? and It is not reason for optimism since they are barely making the content fees , it’s increasingly unclear whether the current streaming TV setup is sustainable. AT&T's aggressive promotions to its wireless customers to persuade them to sign up for DirecTV, are temporary. AT&T is losing money on every subscriber it signs up, thanks to increasingly expensive deals with the content owners.

Even at the $35-40 per month price that most streaming services charge, it’s unclear whether anyone is making any money. Eventually AT&t will do what they do best, to change the terms and increase prices, so make sure you don't have termination fees associated with your bundles or "bait and switch promos" they love those too

As margins have been nibbled away, leaving an expensive-to-run service that barely breaks even, so is Not a good idea to have one provider for all your devices specially if the provider is AT&T, at the end they will always get you, "it is In the fine print", at the end you are on you own.

On the side of the government? The FCC is a big reason Telecom is in such disarray.

Dsl and verse are burried technologies, never a success, Direct has failed, they are not making any money, just buying time, stock stagnant for the past 10 years, loadboat of debt, and a bunch of old technicians hoping for retirement, this summarizes the DeadStar

Careful what you wish for

Imagine T if they had opted not to do dsl

Imagine if they had opted not to do Uverse

Imagine had they not acquired DTV (UV would be hard pressed vs OTT without the DTV scale)

TW next is next step with content to stay relevant

Thank you T for staying relevant and constantly looking ahead
