Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Horrible time

I was notified of my termination in October and this has been and continues to be one of the worst times of my life! I am a RN with a BSN but because of where I live I can’t find a job. I have applied for over 30 jobs with Humana and over 200 elsewhere. I feel like Humana black balled me in the Health Provider Industry. It has been awful so bad I have considered suicide!

Please please don’t consider self harming behavior. I know it’s difficut, your most definitely depressed. I was laid off as well. There are few jobs most paying much less. I’m in my 60’s so there’s that. As hard as it is don’t let a job define your worth.

When I was let go, it took me a year, and 500+ applications to find a job. I was even told that if I was a good employee, then I wouldn't be unemployed (this by a major insurer's recruiter). Once I had a job, I had 3 more offers after that. I have found that unfortunately, you're more likely to be hired WHILE you have a job, but if you're out of work, many employers see that as a negative. Don't give up, keep applying. Something will break for you. Many prayers for a quick turn around!

Praying for you.

This is so serious and a lot of people don’t understand, or care, how this can ruin lives.

My Coach suggested we all use humor, meditation, and let’s not forget- call the EAP. So insensitive and totally clueless.

I am so sorry. Praying for you.

I was recently laid-off, too, and am also having difficulty finding employment. ... To boot, I am a young, single mother with 4 little kids.

I have my ups & downs right now, too, and can’t seem to ever stop crying.

God bless us all

Please get help- loss of income is incredibly stressful, but you will be able to reenter the job market. Many areas have nursing shortages if you are able to consider relocation. Stay strong

Oh goodness I’m so sorry you are having such a hard time. I experienced that before when I went from the hospital to home health and tried to enter back into the clinical setting . I did eventually find a job that was not what I wanted but I worked there for six months and then moved to a job I did like. Hang in there I know this is hard but I’m sure you provide a lot of joy for people and there’s good things down the road

Oh, I am so sorry. It will get better. If you are falling hard into depression, please get help. Talk this your doctor. Reach out to someone. It will get better. This is a tough time and will pass. Something good will come. In the meantime, please take care of yourself and get help just to get through this.

You are a nurse, so I know you already know this, but if you need to call the suicide hotline the number is 1-800-273-8255.

I’m so sorry but it will get better. Just when you least expect it, something good will result from your searches.

Hugs to you.
