Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Employee surveys are here!

And managers will get ripped to shreds. What goes on in these meetings? Anyone know? My entire store hates this piece of garbage manager of ours and everyone is ripping him in their survey. What are the chances the idiots gets the boot?

As a Director I always found it easy to figure out the bad comments based on the different breakdowns by direct reports. Never was surprised or did anything but it isn't hidden so don't be fooled into thinking you can rip someone and you can't be identified

As a former Director within the COR Retail Channel (yes, I moved on - to another company and haven't looked back!), be constructive but honest. Don't be "the one" that comes across as angry and hateful. The surveys are anonymous - the results roll up to your manager, ARSM, DOS, etc. Be honest, in a professional manner. If you are professional, your views will be reviewed with respect.

the disengaged people are probably the ones suffering from incompetent management to begin with

Been through many meetingd. Last year the AVP told us she usually ignores comments from anyone who scores as disengaged as those are the kinds of people who need to move on to something else anyway. Those who score engaged but have critical opinions in specific areas are more heavily paid attention to.

Depends... If there is a lot of discipline and scores are low, the manager won’t get pushback because the assumption is it is due to discipline — and discipline should match reps not meeting goals in areas like DTV. But if scores are low and there isn’t a lot of discipline, your manager may be put on a CAP to structure and increase coaching with his/her team.

People that truly offer insight about mismanagement, are shown the door all the time, no one wants an incompetent manager, but they thrive in our environment

Here's an idea: If you're taking the survey, and you have something to say? Sign your name and have proof to back up your statements. Otherwise, it's just an angry Facebook post!

Question, would you believe anything a 2 nd level tells you? Never knew a single one that was not there for himself , lie, cheat, and move on to the next group target

I am a level 2 leader and the surveys are anonymous.

As for the manager facing consequences, it really depends on a variety of factors. First and foremost it’s their leadership, so if your ARSM and DIRECTOR holds their team accountable then the survey will make a difference. If your locations results are bad with terrible engagement scores and your manager has been there for longer than 6 months, I would be shocked if they don’t get written up.

surveys are used to find negative feedback and pinpoint those out of compliance with the azz kissing ways of the management structure there

Demographic info is provided to the company so they know your location and can easily figure out who you are.

There is nothing anonymous about this surveys, maybe Iknow things you folks don't, just another tool to get rid of people willi g to tell the truth

They are anonymous to the individual level, but are typically rolled up by manager, division, region, etc to aggregate numbers. So if there are 23 surveys for 1 manager, and 22 are good and 1 bad, it is usually easy to pinpoint who the sour grape is as the source. Flip it around, if there are 22 bad and 1 good, the same applies, but the manager will be talked to/ face consequences.

I've been involved in these surveys for years at multiple companies as a director, and find little use for them aside from a "feel good" tool, to give the employees the impression they are providing valued feedback. but when every response says the benefits s---, or the comp is below average, there isnt much a company can do except to spin these things and offer meaningless incentive plans etc.

If it matters, I always give top scores to all the questions to make my VP / manager look good.

In the Northeast we got an email asking to have it done by the 15th and they’ll give us ... wait for it....money for pizza... okkayyyyy. Yup- I can read between the lines, they want the surveys done before more layoffs are announced, that way they figure they’ll get better scores. And nothing is anonymous, I was told supposedly no names are shared but they can tell the geographical area responses come from.. so tell the truth. I always do. Who cares. As for the attendance policy comment, maybe it’s different in different departments but I’m a Manager and reps call in constantly, they play the system like a pro. A lot of Managers, ARSMs etc are even worse, working 2 days a week and get away with it. Whatever..I used to love my job, not so much anymore and I’ll tell anyone why to their face, survey or no survey, layoff or whatever. Stand up for yourself if you have an issue.

I always gave two thumbs up. The word I got is, if the surveys indicate that your group has problems, in combination with other factors like attendance, it could increase the chances of surplusing the group.

They are annonymous, I can vouch for them being so. I would have been fired a LONG time ago if they weren’t. What exactly happens? I believe the managers have a big meeting somewhere and their managers read their comments aloud in front of their peers. Would be hilarious! Thats how they do it here in San Francisco I think
