Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dejavu Part 2

A couple months ago I posted layoffs were coming. And seems the time has come. There were recent store closures and staff was let go. No relocation for anyone and the stores were closed same day. Rumors were bottom 20% but seems closing less profitable stores is the way to trim some fat away. Wish everyone luck out there! #May17th

Well it happened. All employees are on payroll until May28th. They are also given the chance to reapply within the company. Not trollin, these are just facts my friend. Take a look at all the other posts. Stores closing accross the country same day. Just look at what happened to Santa Barbara. Closed the same day buddy..

VZ can close a store a store immediately as long as VZ pays the employees for the 60 days notice period.

One store with just a few employees might not qualify as a "mass layoff".

"The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 (the "WARN Act") is a US labor law which protects employees, their families, and communities by requiring most employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60 calendar-day advance notification of plant closings and mass layoffs of employees,"

Legally they cannot close a store same day as they notify employees so this seems like quite the troll post.

Stores closing the same day of employee notification seems unlikely.

Nothing happened in the SEM outside of call centers during the Nov IT layoffs. So I have no idea which store closures your talking about. Then again the most profitable market is SEM so I guess we will be fine if it comes down to revenue
