Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Only hope is an approved merger

At this point stock down 15% lower in 2018, I do not see a catalyst to see the trend ending anytime soon, look folks this dinosaur mostrousity is struggling to preserve what they do best and what do you think in trying to preserve an outdated business model, that won't work in the long run, now let's wait for interest rates to go up, that WOULD be the best thing can ever happen to get rid of this CEO

I think you mean "IHS Markit" financial services. Yes they get paid to speculate on emerging technologies and pricing on credit swaps. AT&T gets paid to deliver connectivity and technology services. Unfortunately AT&T has quite a pile of expensive carcasses of failed endeavors. That my friend is a lot of money for smoke and mirrors. I don't know, maybe you know more than the CFO.

The IHS market expects 5G to contribute 12.3 trillion dollars to the global economy by 2035. Major global company’s are pouring billions of dollars into 5g for Mission Critical services such as autonomous vehicles, automated industry, healthcare networks, and even infrastructure . Seems like a whole lot of money and work for smoke and mirrors pal....

5G is smoke and mirrors, anyone that knows anything about radio wave propagation will understand this. ALL of the frequencies that are proposed to be used 3.5 gHz and 28-38 gHz are seriously attenuated by everything. AT&T does not even own the spectrum yet, the FCC auction occurs in November 2018.

Got a tree, no 5G. Got low E glass, no 5G. Got fog, no 5G. People complain about their DirecTV not working when it rains, wait until they have no connectivity with 5G. Don't believe me, read this. https://www.fiercewireless.com/5g/at-t-cfo-throws-shade-verizon-s-fixed-5g-plans

T needs time Warner to stay alive. The end goal is a shift to wireless technology to serve its customers and they need the content to shift away from landline service so that they can continue to grow and stay relevant. 5g and content distribution will be the future of T and allow it to shed most of iefs, Tfs, and it’s supporting departments, reducing costs tremendously.

"The TW deal isn’t going to help at all it’s more debt..."

That's what I wonder about. It is a mature business, not a growth business, like Netflix. I'd rather see a 21st century acquisition. But, I'm guessing.

Randell is one of the worst CEO’s to run this company

The TW deal isn’t going to help at all it’s more debt and more layoffs especially in the TW side and DTV. DTV management should be worried their necks are on the line if the deal goes through they will place the media management of TW in charge. Randall can keep buying companies but as long as he keeps firing and outsourcing the talent that keeps the gears moving he’ll never strike gold.

Current leadership is 100% fail. They all need to go, every day they stay in place, the company slides a bit more.

AT&T needs 1. A creative leader at the top 2. a CFO that can talk to the market that the market respects 3. Someone in charge of strategy with a marketing/sales background as Donovan and Stankey were total failures 4. Donovan, Stankey and lee running the 3 operations is a recipe for failure as Donovan has tanked Mobility and Entertainment, Stankey knows nothing about TWX business and Lee has accomplished nothing and is there only because she is a woman

Buying TW is not going to save this company in the long run. Content creation is tough business to succeed in. Randall seriously thinks shoving ads down everyone’s throats on the HBO app is going to generate hundreds of millions of dollars. Google (the biggest ad company in the world) tried with the ad model their going to try and do and failed.

They got complacent with the wireless business and T-Mobile came and kicked in the door. They ignored the OSP and didn’t upgrade the a majority of the wireline footprint to fiber and now Comcast is taking us to the cleaners. Time and time again leadership has been two steps behind. When does it end?

Look at the cash flow. The cash flow is where all the current and future answers are.

Yeah cant wait to see how well that works out. TW employees should be worried. AT&T shares are down 19% over the past 12 months, compared with a 12% gain for the S&P 50

Think of the magic Randal cold work with a bigger company, may send the whole economy in the tank
