Thread regarding Follett layoffs

62 old man on obamcare- thanks follett

really bad company that messes up loyal veteran employees by getting rid of them for just a few bucks of savings- no sympathy for employees still there- you deserve everything your going to get - which is nothing- signing off 20 year veteran given ten minutes to leave his store when my position was officially eliminated- thanks for nothing follett

That is the real issue. For the last 6 years starting with MLS, they had grand ideas, that were nothing but grand disasters. The only way they compensated for their decisions, was to cut, cut, cut and cut. At the lower levels

Being in one's 60's and looking for work is terrible. 22 years of service meant you were paid too much. How that doesn't equate to age discrimination is beyond me. Unless you find a smoking gun email or memo, there is no discrimination case any government agency or lawyer will touch.

As to Obamacare, perhaps is hapless, feckless, skilless management teams were saddled with acquiring and managing health care services for their emploiyees, they would do a better job. Obamacare is better than what preceeded it, but far less than it should have been. Your colonoscopies are 100% covered, for instance.

Makes you think, I was 62 when laid off and my boss made the comment I was lucky because I was old enough to retire. Did it enter their calculus? Years of dedicated service sure didn't.

I only wish the senior management were held accountable when their schemes to save money by eliminating departments and outsourcing services proved to cost the company money.

They are adding employees at the Ivory Tower like CRAZY! Most layoff positions have not been replaced.

Does this qualify as age discrimination?

I hear you. I was also let go at 62 after 22 years with the company. I was fortunate to be able to afford to retire. They started with people with 30 years of service and have worked their way down. Anyone with 20 years or more should expect that tap on the shoulder.
