20% Tech reduction coming 3rd Quarter 2018

There will be a 20% Wire Tech reduction, involving parts of the South East. At least 1 district is a known fact and it’s happening 3rd quarter. Probably happening at other districts, but not going to speculate. Can’t name specific place, so don’t ask. Be prepared! Good luck & God bless.

Initially people are baffled why they’d be taking work away from $24/hr Wire Techs and giving it to $37/hr Service Techs.

It’s cheaper to pay ST’s for a few extra hours of overtime than it is to keep leagues of WT’s on and pay their 40 hour guarantee. There is only so much e-Time they will take, only so much training you can do in between dry spells.

It’s because the fiber footprint expansion is largely over, and you only have installs due to churn ‘n burn.

You’d think the company would give everything to the Wire Techs but they haven’t. I keep telling my coworkers this but they’ve been brainwashed in training “We’re the new FT’s!”. Actually, no. If anything, the FT’s are the new YOU.

Before Wire Techs were Wire Techs and they were Prem Techs, it was communicated that the job title was temporary for the uVerse buildout. Look in webphone for any Wire Tech and you’ll see (UNPROTECTED) next to his or her name.

It means your WORK is UNPROTECTED. It can be performed by a Service Tech but you can’t do their work. If the company starts teaching wire techs how to ribbon splice and breaks the protected work of the WS31 and WS32, they’ll strike.

Whether you agree with it or not, the company has made their intentions very clear over several years. This news should come as a surprise to no one.

I just saw a document that read 20% all of SW Premise techs will be surplused!!!!! My manager accidentally had it on his desk!!!! If you are in IEFS.... in the SW region... start looking now!!!!! Time is of the essence !!!! Don’t delay!!!!!! And then once the 20-% is surplused, the premise techs remaining will all be forced as Home Dispatch, and dispatch on all DTV installs, while all and i mean ALL FTTP jobs goes to TFS!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I READ!!!!!

Probably happening in other districts. Not going to speculate . Can't name a specific place ??? Don't ask .... if that's not some kind of hexagonal theory and totally off the grid I don't know what is .. First step get the facts . Second get more facts . Third maybe give the "south east " pipe a break ...
