Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

42K is pretty decent for an entry level position. My commission adds another $20-$35K per year. I’m happy where I’m at for now.

The in home expert I encountered at my house was useless. And rude - even after I told her I was a fellow att employee. She was mostly concerned with her hair. She said, "I'm here to show you how to use your internet and direct tv." Umm, I already know how to do all that. Turns out I had to help her. Apparently her job was to show me how to look at my internet and direct tv service through 3 apps on my cell phone. From what I see, those apps deal with billing and how many devices are connected to your wifi. If I had needed to know how to hook my computer or tv to wifi, run a speed test, or log in to the router to check stuff out and maybe change my wifi name or password, she couldn't have been able to help me. That's what I would expect an in home expert to be able to help me with, not bill payment. But go figure, att wants to make sure you to know how to get them their $$$, even if you don't know how to use the services you're paying for. If I had been a total nube with no kids in the house, she would possibly have been of help. She definitely was not technical in any sense of the word, and she totally wasted my time.

I understand the in home expert is a valid position that could be useful in certain situations. I feel that the one I had to deal with could use some lessons in basic politeness to begin with, and then some relevant product training after that.

42K is a low wage regardless of YOUR view, specially if you have a family, is that is the best this company has to offer? LOL, keep offshoring jobs Randy, cheap labor is the U.S. labor future
