@SAzgBE7-1plc Nobody watches UpToSpeed - that's only there for the Basking ridge echo-chamber chorus.

All the carriers hit the 5G brick wall at the same time. It was anticipated that 5G would work on the existing RF spectrum that Vz paid billions at auction for and currently operate 2G, 3G and 4G on. Turns out you cannot get the desired throughput at these frequencies. The industry is looking at millimeter wave RF to support the desired speeds. When it does finally deploy it will be fixed wireless only at first. Connecting to home routers and fixed Iot devices (think FIOS replacement). If you expect to be able to sit in your favorite coffee shop and surf the web on your iPhone 11 at gigabit speeds anytime soon don’t hold your breath. This is a technology/platform problem, not a Vz problem. THE 1200LB GORILLA IN THE ROOM I HEAR NO ONE DISCUSSING IS HOW SAFE IS MM WAVE RF? I DONT BELEIVE THERE HAS BEEN ANY STUDIES DONE YET TO DETERMINE IF PLACING A MM WAVE ANTENNA NEXT TO YOUR HEAD FOR HOURS ON END SAFE. WILL IT COOK OFF OR MUTATE BRAIN CELLS? MM WAVE IS THE PART OF THE SPECTRUM (30-80ghz) THAT THEY USED TO OPERATE RADAR STATIONS IN WW2, AND WE ALL KNOW HOW SAFETY MINDED THEY WERE BACK THEN. MM WAVE IS MULTITUDES CLOSER TO THE DANGEROUS “IONIZING RADIOATION” THAN ANYTHING USED BEFORE. GOOGLE “RF SPECIFIC ABSORPTION RATE” FOR MORE DETAIL. GOOD THING THE CURRENT FCC CHAIRMAN IS A FORMER VERIZON GUY. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE INDUSTRY SPINS THIS.

@1eyj, 6G is soooo iron pyrite. 17G is where it’s at.

Why are you asking this? Aren’t you one of the 10s if not 100s of loyal, daily “Up To Speed” viewers? They update the V-Teamers constantly about 5G updates starting with a hearty “Hey what’s up?!”
