Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Does verizon really micro-manage their managers?,and harass their employees

That is a shame if they really do that, was it always like this type of working environment.if so who would want to work there.

That decision is made the ED level if we’re talking about the same area(s).

The Southeast wireless Network group is managed like a motor vehicle office. From the top down. Lots of former Alltel cronyism, you would think Alltel bought out Verizon the way they act. Surprised NJ has not fixed this yet.

Frank Wise should be fire as a executive director. He discriminate employees all the time, arrogant...big ego.

What job's environment has been created around him.

Maybe I have just been lucky for the 10+ years I have worked here, but I have always had good managers that really do not micromanage. My current one likes to ask a lot of questions but its more so that he can learn along with me, not because he doesnt trust me.

It is true that everyone that I know working at VZW is always looking over their shoulders as if someone is staring at them waiting for them to make a wrong move.

The matrix chasers. I know of more than one wireless network region that WILL NOT put a new (>$400k) cell site in service and provide coverage improvements for the customers and revenue to the company until everyone logs in and updates their project management tracker tasks. This decision is made at the director level. No one manages the results anymore. Trackers are supposed to be tools to drive results....not be the result. That’s potentially $100 million of capitol per region sitting idle every year not earning for days because managment is too caught up managing trackers and block checking in their little silo world. So to answer the OPs original question......YES!!!

They should fired the director and vp for causing a toxic work place..if you want to run a place without respecting your peers ,go find a time machine and go to the 1600's...like really a fortune 500 company with upper levels like that....

Most female ADs don't know anything, so they assume nobody else does either :)

True.... my Mgr wants weekly updates on how I will develop my team and pick something I want them to focus on now ... The director doesn’t even trust the reps to take online trainings at their desk... she wants them herded into a training room to take them

I was on a conference call once, when someone asked me to spell my last name. They wanted to email me something.

Before I could answer, the female (micro) project manager started spelling it. I spoke up and said, "I've got this one".

Everyone laughed.
