Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

New managers are kids.

The 3 managers that got let go at our club had 20, 25 and 23 years with the company. The managers that replaced them are 19 , 21 and 23 years old with less then 7 years combined of experience. You can say all you want but to tell me that this had nothing to do with how long they been with the company then you’re delusional. They are replacing every long term managers with fresh fish straight out of MIT. How old are your new managers??

Let’s get real, it doesn’t matter if your old or young. The company doesn’t like managers that challenge leadership. They don’t like managers that are willing to stand up and call out the bad . If you do , you are labeled a negative person and unwilling to change to the new ways. You are then targeted with bs coachings and ushered out the door.

Young ,old, it’s called diversity and you need it in a management team. You can’t have all 40 year old males just like you can’t have all 25 year old males either.

Wow, some of you are COLD! I'm a 25-year associate who works CIRCLES around the younger partners here! I'm in my early 50's, not quite ready for the retirement community. Hope you're still so eager to see the experienced partners gone when YOU'RE one if them!

White males over 40 are not the only targets. I know many middle aged white women that were displaced also.

Yes ,I hear and see the maturity & experience in which you will rule your kingdom and your subjects....won't be long before you will all be Market Mgrs with even greater responsibilities.

Like the welfare of those depending on you to do the Right thing.

Absolutely the old timers have skated by long enough out with the old and in with new. The old folks are still working on the smart systems that are as old as they are. Sams is looking to renovate and update, times are hard and change is a must to survive.

Just because you have 20 years experience doesn’t mean you are good at what you do... I’ve known plenty of managers younger than myself who were better...

The old timers need to retire and let the young intelligent take over. They have special places for the 25 plus year folks it’s called nursing home enjoy.

This is true we have young MIT’s running million dollar clubs, with no experience. I agree on the other hand as well 25 year managers get set in there ways of self entitlement. We have so many long term associates who feel like they’ve done their tour and are very complacent and don’t want to do more in the company. If you do not want to do more within the facility then step aside, give others a chance.

Obviously us who are younger are accomplishing more and showing DRIVE. I’m a young manager myself... if I’m out doing people with YEARS of experience........ that’s not my fault. Don’t be mad that there is young talent out there. ;)

Seriously, the rational and reasoning part of the brain is only halfway developed at the age of 18. It's not finished until 25. People shouldn't be in charge of other people until that age. Voting, military, and other important decisions shouldn't be allowed until 25 as well. This isn't age discrimination when the science is there. The car rental industry is way ahead of the curve on this.
