How long do you think the next strike will be? 10 weeks or 20?

Hey EWA workers! You are all whistling past the graveyard hoping for a few more dollars before you fall into the cold, harsh grip of the RIF. I will enjoy my 401k, my pension and my EISP while you b--ches try not to get killed by the decaying shell of what was once the outside plant. Just know one thing: Even if you get the couple weeks of EWA pay the RIF is always waiting on the other side of any work stoppage.

No money to pay ewa'ers. They are getting older, becoming physically dangerous. Poor training , lost supervisors, less and less are available, Lost the ability to pull from sold off branches and are not willing to be a participant in Verizon's shenanigans .

What’ll s--- is that EWAers will have no certainty in their lives once they are for selected until the contract is signed.
No strike, No EWA too much work ahead in the Wireline side, the backbone of the entire network and Verizon.

That's not news. Before every contract expiration the EWAs are notified of potential work locations, it doesn't mean anything. A better indication will happen around March of next year.
Don't worry about EWA (unless you are a Fios tech because your watched like a hawk). Locate all the nice quiet COs in the area. older dilapidated COs with empty offices are a plus. Fiber huts are great too but you need an empty milk carton to pee in. Lots of places to hide unless a CO tech that crossed the line decides to show up.

There will be no strike. Stratton will be the CEO for only 3 months and he will not start his tenure with such disruption. Look for an extension thru 2021 to be consummated

One EWA died during pole climbing training....FACT.....but VZ did send a beautiful arrangement of flowers.
I just hope any EWA's don't kill themselves in their hotel room like one did on his go around. Very sad but VZ sent flowers I heard.

So if you did EWA last time, congrats, you’ve made the list to do it this time. However a large number of people did quit so they’ll need to top it up by 20-30%. Not execs though because they are too important and the business can’t possibly run without them because they are so busy jetting off to meetings go discuss sales targets for next year.
We are ready. We have the peanut butter. We have fiber risers picked out. Just waiting for the code words and we will act. SF5 out.
The Up To Speed people are going to love EWA this time around. Their daily "from the field showing you the brave V-Teamers assisting our customers" updates will be awe-inspiring and will possibly increase their audience to triple-digits. Maybe they'll rename it -- "Up The Pole"?

1bn1- I would think that if you were assigned to follow the contractors that yes, he (or she) would sit and watch them. The idea was to follow them and see what kind of work they were doing, so you would sit and watch no matter what the contractor was doing and report back. You wouldn't be wasting time to be sitting and watching.

In a Republican administration, there's not going to be a mood to get the Department of Labor to attempt to get both sides to negotiate. Had that not happened last time with the number of people "graduating" from the NCC in Leesburg the strike would have carried on into June for sure. Don't say that the next strike won't last more than a few weeks -- that's what all the old timers told us back in 2016. "Oh you'll just be out there until the cavalry comes in". Yeah right. And for those that had an EWA assignment, at least from what I saw -- once selected for EWA, always selected for EWA. If you put up with that crap before, they assume you'll do it again.
@khm ha the contractors were awful. I followed one in summer 2016 during that strike with kentucky plates who mainly just sat in his truck or sat at walmart like he did most of the day. The kinda crap the old timers (who all retired just before or during GPS implementation) used to do, HA! Their incompetence is a main reason we only struck 7 weeks, that and Obama, possibly his only real good move in 8 years...
No one wins in a strike....So it's best to avoid them on both sides.
Strikes like that only come about every decade so don't expect another 7 week one this time. If anything happens you're looking at 2 weeks or less. The company has too much work to do for 5G and let's be honest, under Trump's booming economy the addition of more jobs means they'd rather keep their people happy rather than having them have the temptation to go elsewhere. Also, after all of the RIFs there aren't many people left for EWA duty and the outside contractors they hired were total nimrods that only do that job because no one else will hire them full time. Serious, the guys I saw looked they walked out of Deliverance.

Lol to LBB. The company's final best offer was basically to screw us all and the union defeated it. So yeah the union won last time despite LBB's obvious agenda. 2019, on the other hand, now that trump is prez, is alot more uncertain.
I guess union did get a-- handed to it last strike. Really got beat up, 2.5% raises last few years, with another coming next year, paying a few $ more for health insurance, still have a pension, paid out cash for unused sick days, and oh, pretty much guaranteed a job through Aug 2019..so yes, I guess a-- handed to it.
There will be no strike,the company cannot and will not subject themselves to a labor dispute ,after all the vzw employees they screwed and riffed,they need time to iron out their 5g concepts with no disruption so they will give the union an extension.the next one after that will be bad for the union,and 3/4 of wireless will be gone by then also...
Difficult to say. The union got its a-- handed to it on the last strike because they called an economic strike. Despite what union members say ... they lost on that one. Only a true dumb--s would think the union won.
If smart, they will call and unfair labor practice this next time around. However, I don't think they will do that. Better chance the negotiations will go on and on until some agreement is met.
