Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

May IT changes

Rumored that around May 2018, IT personnel will be offered to stay on as contractors, or be eligible for a 1 month severance package.

Again - rumors only at this point, but as we all know....our rumor mill is pretty damn accurate.

Bumped from @S4hkZyB-bdx for info and in hope somebody has more info on this.

No severance package, but I heard Lowell was giving each employee a free Honda and a box of Nieman Marcus cookies :-D

Well, let's hope severance packages are an option. And let's hope it's a RIF level, not one month.

Rumors change day to day - but even tho the details may change, the bottom line seems to be consistent. In this case, it looks like EUS will be sold to IBM, and workers will have the option to be a contractor. No idea about packages - would be pretty shady if there wasn't something offered though.

I would like more info on this as well. I have 20+ years in IT with this compay but have at least 10 more years to work until retirement age. I will be upset if I lose my 35 weeks of severance that is due to me. My plan was to stick it out as long as I can until they kick me out the door but I want my full severance...not one month. I have heard major changes coming this year for IT but do not have any specific details.

Please share more details on this post. Thanks.
