Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Google

Does anyone understand why google ran this pixel contest. They gave away a sh-- ton of pixels. Is Verizon setting themselves up for a buyout or merger? Seems they are pushing google a ton. Last thing and it's sort of funny. We have to report google pixel sales at end of nite as SMs. Since when does Verizon care what phone we sell?

Pretty sure the “wireless” people are just bored trolls looking for a reaction. They succeeded.

@1peb, I am a Union man. Being such, I do not ever want to see anyone losing their job, whether they be union, non-union, management, it simply does not matter. I see the value of all who contribute to making a successful go of things, and making this a winning enterprise for all involved.

However @1peb, I'm willing to make an exception for both you and @ewa, malcontents who are only in it for themselves and don't give a darn for their customers, their co-workers, or for the company that they represent. You should be weeded out, and separated from the decent individuals that make up the majority of this company.

While we are family, I do not like what you stand for. You're bottom-feeders.

@1ytk, I'm with you on that brother. While some delight on consistently bashing the union man and woman on here, the behavior that I have witnessed exhibited on this board by some folks on the other side of the house who have made comments here is truly disgusting, and in no way bears any resemblance to the professionalism, courtesy, and decency I witness each and every day on the landline side. For those folks that diminish our Company's good name through your actions and greed, shame on you!

Wireless workers really come off as a holes on these forums. Feel bad for any customer that has to go in a store and deal with these jerk offs.

Unlike Mr. We-are-not-their-to-educate, the side of my work van says "Ask Me About FiOS".

Is it any wonder FiOS is a far, far bigger success than originally conceived, and is in a growth market trajectory? I constantly hear kudos about the workers in the field. Hopefully you give every reason to hear the same about your store's personnel.

Landline side here to chime in. I've never been unwilling to answer a customers inquiries. If a person is willing to spend their hard-earned money with us, or is considering switching over to us, the very least I can do is encourage him or her to by being friendly and by answering any questions they may have in a forthright and honest manner. It usually does not take too much time to be decent to people, though some people do hold me up longer than others. I feel a special empathy for the elderly who, at times, may be a little nervous and may take a little longer to have their mind put at ease. It is about respect. I would hope that people treated my folks (when they were alive) the way I treat theirs. To the person who finds customers little more than annoyances, understand that, A, one day you may be in their shoes and, B, your salary is paid because people do business with us. People do business with us if you serve the purpose of solving their problem and providing for a need.

@1peb, yes you are. Otherwise, there's one MAJOR less reason to have retailers. You do understand that, right, Mr. Intolerant?

There are no stupid questions, just stupid salesmen.

We are not their to educate. We are there to sell and make money for our families. I don’t tolerate stupid questions.

If someone works in a cell phone store they can help educate customers on the differences between phones.

Why is it unbelievable that someone wants to see the difference between the 7 and 8? You think people follow phone stuff 24/7? I dont know the differences why am i supposed to know them? Its your job to present a side by side comparecent explaining the differences so i can make the best decision based on my needs.

"They think we build the phone and all these software upgrades are our doing, come work the frontline we should get battle pay! The best is when a customer comes in and want to see the difference between the iPhone 7 and 8 , you just can't make it up!" - @ewa

What precisely is so outrageous, so out of the ordinary, about a person asking you about the difference between various models of equipment that YOU'RE SELLING? Whether it be a television, a washing machine, a car, or a phone, it seems perfectly reasonable for the consumer to be allowed to make inquiries regarding the product they're considering purchasing and YOU'RE SELLING.

What do you mean when you say, "The best is when a customer comes in and want to see the difference between the iPhone 7 and 8 , you just can't make it up!"? It's a valid request for information from a reasonable person. Forbes magazine had an entire article regarding exactly just that titled, iPhone 8 Vs iPhone 7: What's The Difference? (https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2017/09/18/apple-iphone-8-vs-iphone-7-whats-the-difference/#327e97401a65). Am I to believe the readers of Forbes are some sort of blithering idiots simply because you choose to mock, and have no time for, a consumer who is trying to make an informed decision on a very expensive item that they will be utilizing daily for quite some time into the future?

You, @ewa, have the wrong attitude. And you say of salespeople, "come work the frontline we should get battle pay!" Get off your high horse. There are a lot of people people toiling far harder than you could ever imagine, in a lot harsher conditions, and doing so without crying woe is me and wallowing in self pity. Part of your job is to sell an item. Answering questions about that item and, occasionally, receiving follow-up inquiries after that sale, are all part of the game within the career you've chosen.

It’s pretty simple. Google pays Verizon to sell their phones.

@ewa, I guess it's due to the way the wireless industry developed. Cable companies don't sell TV's, so if someone's TV refuses to stay on horizontal hold (if that still even happens), or has some other anomaly, they don't go running to Vz, or Comcast, or Time Warner, or whomever their supplier of television content is for intervention. They instead rightfully go to the MAKER of their TV, whether it be Samsung, Sony, VIZIO ... or else they simply buy a new one from a store that sells televisions. These stores offer direction, advice, and may offer a warranty.

Now, if the cable providers had historically been in the game of providing the television itself as well as the programming that will be on them, they would likely have opened themselves up to the very conundrum that you are describing.

So, knowing all that @ewa, what course of action could the wireless carriers do that you feel would alleviate your complaint? You see it, do you not? Therefore it might be wise for you to be careful what you wish for. Rather than view your customers in the light in which you continue to do, instead see them through the prism as your sole reason for being.

Sorry Apple s king at our location, We have an Apple Store a 1000 thousand yards from our front door and we get more " Apple tech problems " than they do and they ( customers) don't have to make an appointment at our store, it is insane! Our customers can't not tell the difference from their service provider and the Company that builds their phone and software! They think we build the phone and all these software upgrades are our doing, come work the frontline we should get battle pay! The best is when a customer comes in and want to see the difference between the iPhone 7 and 8 , you just can't make it up!
