Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Surplus or no?

Was told that surpluses were on hold due to the Union lawsuits? Are lay offs still happening after all? The next round was supposed to be in February, but I thought those were not going to occur??? Any insight on this?

Yes it's happening today is February 5 th 11am and my son in law just got layed off. My daughter is expecting and they purchased a house last year. Oh well he's a self starter praying he gets something better. Times are a changing it's not like when my parents worked for a company for 30 years and retired with a pension and benefits...

The company has been doing strategic layoffs for years. I can remember 2009 or 10 they began 4x per year. They already have their layoff plan out for years ahead, should not be a shock.

Layoff were here yesterday, it is here today, it will be here tomorrow & day after tomorrow. Eventually, it will hit you. That's a fact.

No amount of law suits can stop this company from laying off workers. ATT's technology is changing, and a lot of positions will no longer be needed. Plain and simple.

As far as I know, the only lawsuit was filed in District 6, Southwest region, seeking an injunction to block the layoffs. I've heard nothing further. In cases like this, a judge might enter a temporary restraining order (TRO) and/or a preliminary injunction while the case is pending. These things happen if the judge concludes that the lawsuit will succeed on its merits. I've not heard of any TRO or preliminary injunction yet, and I believe for some of the prem techs, the layoff date has already been reached. I haven't heard either that the layoffs occurred, or didn't occur.
