Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Mandatory meetings

This is valid information not hearsay or the spreading of rumors. All Market managers were out of their repsective markets this past week for mandatory meetings. This upcoming week the market managers will hold a mandatory meeting with the CM’s . After the market manager has the CM meeting .... All the CMs will hold a meeting at the same exact time with their assistants in the clubs. This is to ensure leaks don’t occur. We should hopefully hear any additional changes next week regarding any potential salaried and/or hourly changes. Any changes are pure speculation until officially announced. pro tip* you should always keep an updated resume at all times and be abreast of what is going on in your local job market regardless of how secure you are in your position. Knowledge and preparedness is power. Good luck to everyone and stay positive.

The previous positions eliminated had a choice to stay the 60 days or come to a mutually agreed on last date with the GM if they were choosing to leave the company. Not sure, but a friend of mine left less than 2 wks after her elimination and still receivd full severance.....never heard of a minimum waiting period to receive full severance . Can anyone clarify??

It depends. The company has done it both ways throughout the different layoffs over the years. Sometimes you stay in your existing role other times they will pull you out of them as they did audit. Won’t know for sure until it’s announced.

Do the positions eliminated continue in their current roles? Or do they stop immediately as did the Audit team previously??!

Yes once the layoff announcements are made you have 60 days to secure another position. Also there is always a date you are required to stay till in order to receive your severance if choose that route. So for anyone that is in a position to be laid off you will at minimum be working the next 60 days. Then if you leave you recieve severance. Yes you will get the most recent bonus and Sams share if your club qualifies for one.

So will there be a 60 day notice to those effected ? Or will this be effective immediately as the announcements are made and meeting taking place?

There are jobs out there if you want one ,retailers have shut down stores that were not profitable for many many years . The problem is us older people who are just a couple years from social security and healthcare . I have spent 30 years with Sams and if I lose my job in marketing I will have no insurance and just enough profit sharing that it will make me pay hundreds for crappy insurance a month . IM not able to do a job the younger people can do so if I lose my job it does matter .

True

The rest don’t even matter the worst is over 11,000 associates without jobs, probably another few thousand by ends week.

Everything should start rolling out quickly now that the meetings are being held. They move quick to ensure info doesn’t get out and associates hear it at the same time throughout all the clubs in the entire company. For those offered severance for eliminated position.... you get one week of pay for every year you were with the company (no they do not round up or down. ! 13 years with the company you will receive 13 weeks of pay. Your pay is based on the they last 12 weeks worked. If you averaged 37.5 hours for the last 12 weeks the. You can times that 37.5 x hourly rate x 13 weeks and that will be your severance. Yes normal taxes apply.

You saying that on here is unnecessary and serves no purpose. No one is on here to read your complaints. Keep them to yourself. This is for layoff information.

What is posted above is accurate. After the CM/assistant mgr meeting the managers will have one on one meetings with any impacted associates in any jobs that are being eliminated.
