IHX taking over retail? That is laughable. The store under my ARSM has more new activations then the entire IHX team in our whole market. That IHX team has a DOS, 10 area managers, and about 80-100 In home reps.

They still are not able to produce what one small area of stores can? Even with alll their special promos.

They also sell micro units of entertainment (understandably so), accessories, upgrades, protection, prepaid.

I get the low overhead, but they simply are not a threat to retail. I would not be surprised if the organization slowly collapses over the next 5 years due to simple economics. Cost vs value. Especially with streaming tv overtaking Dtv installs.

Joining that team is a very high risk career decision.

I am a field tech for the AT&T IT dept and I've been hearing pure rumors that the IHX people would be why stores would close, but haven't heard anything significant to support that rumor. Also, I'm not sure if this means anything, but we were just given responsibility for supporting for the DTV setups in the AR locations, with the rumored hope that it will give us a foot in the door to take over for all their IT support - even higher management has this hope, or so they say.
