Severance packages?

People are brushing this off, saying that employees will be "fine" and will receive severance packages. I doubted that store-level employees would receive such packages.

Can anyone verify or deny this?

Starting today, we will be getting two months of pay. Not double. If you come in and work to help while the store is closing you can earn extra that way, that is what they meant by "double" pay. Since you're already getting the severance pay and you can get a little extra too. Also depending on how many years you have been with the company you will get what amounts to an extra week of pay per year. So if you been there 5 years, you'll get five extra weeks. It caps at I think 40 weeks. It's all in that stupid packet they sent out by FedEx to everybody.

If they close a store they don’t have to pay out severance packages to anyone. They did the same thing when they closed other stores 2 years ago. And they don’t have to give a 60 day notice for store closings.

We will be getting paid (double) for 2 months, and will be eligible to apply for unemployment once the severance package checks stop coming in.
