When I was a kid.... when a company had 'layoffs', they were out of work for a time, then the company brought them back.

These aren't layoffs... people will be fired. Period.

The goal of management for IT is to have VDSI in total control. The plan will include the extensive use of L1 visas to get around the H1B problem. This action will cut IT expenses dramatically.

@3twv yes we have a small tech support group in alpharetta ga, and some in either nc or sc or both. No option for us to go HBA although we all want to.

40-45% cuts in all departments. Higher number in IT. Rif's are very soon. Was given the % numbers in a staff meeting.

2rju - 30% was a number for IT, so probably not all employees. IT datacenters are consolidating to Ohio/FL from the currently 8 across the country over the next 3 years. Probably not going to come close to this target timeline.

Does Verizon still have any tech support reps in the call centers or has this been all outsourced to asurion? Just curious because of all the call center closures and most customer care changing to HBA. When I left over a year ago anyone that had TMP had tech support routed to Asurion automatically

Not sure if two posts before 1lwv are trolling but I've been hearing 30% thrown around. Also heard off the books by end of April.

We had them late last week, off the books 3/23. Never seen a RIF so close to the off the books date before. We think it's because everyone that was RIFed was someone that used STD in the past year, and they don't won't to give these guys enough time to find another position within VZ... Sleazy.

Eventually they will reduce headcount in stores. it will happen. And you can’t “PIP” people out like you always say they will. I haven’t seen anybody fired for numbers the whole time I’ve worked here.
