Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

lol.... plenty of people that took all the classes preparing for 2020 they got laid off already..... you’re better off using the company to take college-level courses for when they do let you go to get a better position.....not more kool aid drinking advice

Prem techs, hell the whole company has been warned years ago that this was coming. 2020. Adjust your skill set or youll be gone. If you are a prem tech and havent even attempted to advance your education then you cant be upset with the company. It hasnt beem a secret. Even though a degree wont ensure you stay it will help to find work with similar pay if you do get cut.

Looking for a higher paying job? What a joke. There are hundreds of prem techs, myself included, who only accepted this position for that reason, a foot in the door. I thought I could do my time and move on to something challenging and rewarding, years later trapped in an entry level job with absolutely no opportunity for advancement. Those positions you speak of often are listed, applied for, then pulled. This is the reality. Luckily I had marketable skills before I started working here, and have accepted a position elsewhere. Prem-teching only qualifies you for digging ditches, and tolerating nonsense. So don't judge prem techs, most have tried in vain to get better positions..

The IBEW website is pretty much telling PREM techs ... here is your chance to bail and get a little money before the gutting of that workforce. They aren't even guaranteeing anything job security wise if you move to a state where the work is. They give you the other half of your move money after you are there for a certain time!

That's the thing with the Prem Tech job. A prem tech has gotten their foot in the door. After serving their time in title/location, they should be in the internal transfer system looking for a higher paying job.

This sux!!! Anyone has an idea of how many techs will be affected?

Did anyone actually think the Union stopped anything??? Why on earth would the company agree to keep people they do not need now? Also, they can use and abuse contractors at will for cheap.

I really do feel bad for these guys regardless of all the back and forth between I&R and PREM techs ... it s---s for anyone period to have to go through this sh--.
